- Nina TeeGold Coast, Australia19 contributionsDefinitely lived up to expectations. Endless stores & food vendors. So much prettier at night, you can spend hours in Dotonbori, be sure to bring a backpack for the amount of shopping you will be doing. Even just from Donquijote!Written May 23, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- jabitzMelbourne, Australia232 contributionsWe had a day trip from Kyoto to Osaka and one place we wanted to visit was the aquarium to see the whale sharks. We spent a couple of hours wandering through the aquarium at times sitting and enjoying watching the fish and rays and sharks swim around the tank. While it was good to see the whale sharks up close it must be said that is is sad to see them in such a small tank compared to the oceans they would normally live in. Like a zoo it gives people an opportunity to see animals that they wouldn't normally get to see in the wild.Written May 25, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - jabitzMelbourne, Australia232 contributionsWe didn't go into Osaka Castle only walked around it and through the gardens as we had two elderly family members that couldn't walk up and down the stairs that well.
The castle is very photogenic although it isn't great where you can see the lift which has been added to the outside wall of one side of the castle. However, we found plenty of other vantage points to take some good photos. It was easy to get to using the JR Osaka Loop which we didn't have to pay any extra for as we had the JR West Pass.Written May 25, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tnere are several areas of the Park where one can take photos of the castle, the moat, and the water.
There are benches in the park where one can sit down and rest for a short time. Also noted are some public restrooms and Lawson Snack Store.Written April 29, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. And the place is always fulled of visitors, adding vibes and vibrancy to the place.
In our recent revisit to Osaka, we also went there and as we were there early (around 10am), it was not that crowded then but in about an hour's time, it's packed with people.
Lots of cafes, restaurants, eateries, departmental stores, among the boutique, pharmacy and convenience stores are in the area and so you need not worry where to shop or eat!Written December 15, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - LolaGo1Washington DC, DC6,628 contributionsI came here around noon for lunch after visiting the Castle. There are shops, restaurants, stores, Gamimg Places, etc It was crowded with people, mostly enjoying the local Osaka street foods.
Also noted in this area are underground shopping areas leading to the various gates or entrances to the Metro and Train Lines. It is nice to shop here or just looking around because of the air conditioners.
Outside: Better to visit in the pm when the neon lights are on, no heat from the sun, more people shopping and eating, more restaurants are open, people simply having fun!Written April 29, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. If one were to choose a single shrine to visit, even without spiritual motivations, this should undoubtedly be the one.
Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine exudes an aura of tranquility and beauty that is unparalleled. The serene escape are a contrast from the bustling city, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in harmony with nature.
The shrine's architectural details with intricate woodcarvings and colors, showcase the skill of Japanese artisans. Each structure, the majestic torii gates, the bridge, the sculptures, paint a rich cultural experience.
There is no cost to enter and the train ride took about 20 minutes from where we were at the time. We also walked across from the entrance, past a park to find an indoor shopping area.
Whether you're a spiritual seeker or simply an admirer of architectural and natural beauty, Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine should not be missed. I highly recommend it!Written May 21, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Overall, it's an excellent experience deserving of high praise, but I reserve 5 stars for truly exceptional experiencesWritten May 3, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
