While automakers have joined the downsizing bandwagon, Engler is doing the exact opposite. They don't count cylinders and don't reduce engine displacements. And the Engler V12 stands proof. It looks every inch a hypercar and has the performance figures of one.
Here comes the Engler V12, which may change the way we look at quad bikes forever. The model was commissioned by a customer who wanted an exclusive and crazy creation.

The CEO of the company, Viktor Engler, decided to go along with it and this is what came out. It turned out to be a contraption that no sane person would drive. That is, if they want to stay in one piece.

The Engler V12 is powered by a V12 engine that pumps out 1,184 horsepower and 885 pound-feet (1,200 Newton meters) of torque. Those are enough for the quad bike to flash from 0 to 62 mph (0 to 100 kph) in just 2.5 seconds and hit a top speed of 250 mph (402 kph). That is as much as the Aston Martin Valkyrie with its V12 Cosworth engine or the McLaren Speedtail can do.

Angler has yet to disclose the source of the engine but will do it within 12 months from now, they promise. What they have already told us is that the power unit is mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch microbox, weighing just 66 pounds (30 kilograms).

The firm claims that it is the lightest transmission capable of handling that much horsepower. It is also the world's lightest gearbox ever used in a road-legal car, Engler says.

The entire quad bike weighs 2,645 pounds (1,200 kilograms). That is around the weight of a Toyota Prius, for instance. Almost 1,200 horsepower at 1,200 kilograms means it comes with a 1:1 horsepower-to-kilogram ratio that many hypercar makers still dream of reaching.

At the end of the day, you know what they say: when in doubt, go flat out. however, do it with the proper equipment.

The model is built around a carbon fiber monocoque, while the body is made entirely from 3D-printed panels. It rides on 20-inch forged magnesium wheels with Michelin Sport Cup 2 tires, measuring 245/30 R20 at the front and 305/30 R20 at the rear.

Brembo ventilated carbon-ceramic discs with six-piston monolithic calipers at the front and four-piston calipers at the rear provide the stopping power.

The all-new Engler arrives five years after Engler Automotive introduced a quad bike powered by the 5.2-liter V10 engine from the Audi R8. That engine provided it with a more tamed 850 horsepower.

The company will only build 20 such units. Nineteen of them have already been sold, but there is no information about the pricing yet. CEO Viktor Engler plans to keep one for himself.
