On the Road with Padraig

KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship

final round of four under par 67 sees Padraig finish in a tie for 17th place at this years Senior PGA Championship. He had just the one blemish on his card, at the par four 1st hole but after that was a model of consistency. Five birdies followed, three of them on the par 5’s to see him finish the week in style. Englands Richard Bland, on a sponsors invite, won the event with a seventeen under par total!

Third round of one under par 70 sees Padraig just inside the top thirty heading into Sundays final round. Five birdies and four bogies made up a very erratic card as ten under par leads the way. He tees off Sunday at 1.59pm GMT with James Kingston and Katsumasa Miyamoto.

Padraig gets back on track with a three under par round of 68 which sees him play for the weekend but more will be needed to get back in contention. He got off to a nice start with a couple of birdies early on and added to that with another birdie three on the par four 7th hole but two dropped shots had him out in 35 shots. He again played solidly on the back nine to cover it in two under par, courtesy of three birdies and one dropped shot at the par three 17th hole.

Padraig shoots a disappointing round of three over par 74 at the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship. Starting on the back nine, he got off to the worst start with a dropped shot on the par five 10th hole but did get that back on the very next hole. He then had a double bogey on the par four 16th to be out in two over. The front nine was a series of missed chances as he recorded eight pars and one dropped shot. He made only one birdie on the day which is very unusual for him so will be hoping for better on Friday! Seven under par leads after the opening round.

Padraig plays this week on the Senior PGA Tour at the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship. It is being held at Harbor Shores Resort in Michigan USA and plays to a par 71 and 6,852 yards. Padraig was beaten in a play off last year with Steve Stricker after both finished on 18 under par.

Tee Times: Round one Thursday, at 7.35pm GMT and Friday 2.10pm GMT with Thomas Bjorn and Jerry Kelly.

PGA Championship

Padraig shoots a second round of four over par 75 to miss the cut at the PGA Championship. Starting on the back nine, he got off to a solid start with five straight pars before a visit to the water cost him a double bogey six on the par four 15th hole. He did bounce back with a birdie at the par four 16th, where he hit his approach shot close, but another shot went at the par five 18th to be out in two over par. The front nine was a mixture of one birdie and three bogies, on a day the course played especially tough. Its back to the Seniors tour now for an important run of events, including a Major next week!

Disappointing opening round for Padraig at Valhalla as he shoots a six over par round of 77. On a very tough course, he found numerous bunkers off the tee and also ran up a double bogey seven on the par five 7th hole, where he found water off the tee. He made just one birdie on the par five 10th hole and will need a low round Friday to progress as the cut line looks to be around level par!

Padraig plays this week at the famed Valhalla course which is hosting the PGA Championship. As a former winner, he is invited back each year and will relish the chance to compete against the elite in the game! A who’s who of the game is playing with all the tours represented and of course local PGA professionals who have qualified. The course is long and arduous so length and accuracy off the tee is essential. It all starts Thursday!

Tee Times: Round one Thursday, at 8.35pm GMT, and Friday Round two, at 3.10pm GMT, with Patrick Reed and Sam Burns
