Here’s how much money Matt Damon and Ben Affleck made last year, according to Forbes

Earnings for the highest-paid actors of 2023 include tens of millions for Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Adam Sandler, and more.

Adam Sandler had zero movies hit theaters in 2023. But thanks to a lucrative deal with Netflix, the New Hampshire-raised funnyman was reportedly the highest-paid actor in Hollywood last year.

Forbes released its 2023 list of the highest-paid actors in Hollywood on Wednesday, and Sandler topped the list with a whopping $73 million in earnings across the calendar year.

Sandler remains one of the most reliable draws on Netflix, with his movies viewed hundreds of millions of times on the platform. Sandler first joined forces with Netflix in 2014 with a four-movie, $250 million deal, and later signed another four-movie deal reportedly worth even more.

Cambridge natives Matt Damon and Ben Affleck weren’t far behind Sandler, landing at No. 4 and No. 9 on the highest-paid actors list, respectively. Similar to Sandler and Netflix, Damon ($43 million) and Affleck ($38 million) have a streamer to thank for their boffo 2023, with Amazon paying $130 million for the rights to their Nike biopic “Air,” according to Forbes.

Damon was also buoyed by the success of “Oppenheimer,” with the actor taking a lower-than-normal salary of $4 million in exchange for a percentage of the movie’s substantial profits, per Forbes.

Unlike in previous years, Forbes’ list of the ten highest-paid actors did not factor in endorsements or money earned by non-entertainment side projects. That left Mark Wahlberg on the outside looking in, with much of the actor’s earnings tied to investments including Wahlburgers, his Municipal clothing line, his prayer app Hallow, fitness company F45 Training, and even his Chevrolet dealership in Ohio.

Other actors with lucrative side projects who didn’t make the cut include Ryan Reynolds and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who were regularly featured on prior editions of Forbes’ highest-paid actors list.
