Tony Goldwyn must be a good luck charm, because one week after he debuted on Law & Order Season 23, the show was renewed for Season 24. The network simultaneously ordered a 26th season Law & Order: SVU while keeping its Christopher Meloni spinoff, Law & OrderOrganized Crime on the bubble (the latter show has since between renewed, but it will air only on Peacock).

Is there a Law & Order Season 24?

Yes. NBC announced on March 21, 2024 that the show had been renewed for Season 24. It wrapped its 23rd season on May 16, 2024. 

What is the release date for Law & Order Season 24?

Season 24 will air during the 2024-2024 primetime season, which means it will come back this fall, likely in September. 

Who is cast in Law & Order Season 24?

NBC hasn't made any casting announcements at this point, save to confirm that Camryn Manheim will not be back. For now, let's assume the main players (newbies included) will be back. They include:

Will Jeffrey Donovan be back for Law & Order Season 24?

At this point, there's no reason to believe Jeffrey Donovan, who played no-nonsense, old-school detective Frank Cosgrove, will be back. After starring in Seasons 21 and 22, he did not return for Season 23.

Will Sam Waterston be in Law & Order Season 24?

No. Sam Waterston took his final bow as Jack McCoy in the Season 23 episode "Last Dance." 

Will Camryn Manheim be in Law & Order Season 24? 

No. Manheim's run as Lieutenant Kate Dixon ended with Season 23. Manheim joined the series when it was revived in 2022 as successor to Lieutenant Anita Van Buren (S. Epatha Merkerson), who starred on the original series from Season 4 to Season 20, and exited just after the iconic procedural hit 500 episodes.

Law & Order is likely to keep its coveted time-slot and air on Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on NBC. Viewers can also stream it next day on Peacock.
