Cheran takes you on a satisfying feel good nostalgic ride with this coming of age romantic drama, that is loaded with beautifully executed tender moments, genuine emotions, hearty songs and an uplifting message. The melodrama may get the better of you in today’s times, yet if you give in the demanded attention, you definitely won’t be disappointed.
Wanted to watch an emotional movie and reminded of this one which is one of my Mum's favourite films!
The film is divided by 3 stories and already the first one made me sad...
It talks about the Love and the separaton.. the songs in this movie are really good and it was a great journey in travelling past Senthil's life..
Life Has To Move On! 🥀
Autograph (2004)
Director Cheran is known for his filmmaking style involving delicate characters with inherent emotions, and realism. Autograph (2004) explores delicate human emotions and realism through the women that the protagonist meets in his life. A romantic drama smoothly flows on the character's journey with themes like patriarchy, caste discrimination and Unemployment issues authentically woven into the narrative
Cheran crafts a memorable leading performance from Sneha as Divya, an overlooked yet strong female character who subverts the patriarchy and social misjudgements.
Each of the actors has created a deep imprint on the storytelling. Autograph (2004) makes us revisit this film for its exploring the human condition and providing us with a nostalgic lane.
It was the best of the times
It was the best of the times
Times were I used to go to school, comeback home and binge watch random films in DVD. Some fade away but some stays and give new feeling for every rewatch and cheran films are tht rare kind.
Autograph - 9/10. Cheran’s personal and drawing of human emotions and love is the beautiful movie Autograph. Before Premam and 96, there was Autograph. The biggest drawback of this film is Cheran’s performance at points, as I felt like if he had gotten his first choice, Suriya, in the role, this might have made the movie perfect. But his inexperience as an actor shows at some crucial moments, but otherwise, this is an incredible feat of drama. Its a movie I didn’t understand that well as a kid. I thought of it as boring or uninteresting. It wasn’t until I rewatched it after having love in my life that I understood the intended impact of this movie. You see, Autograph…
I can't say my interest was fully retained for the entirety of this film's long running time, but I liked the structure of this script, with Cheran visiting the various women who had a major influence on his life and recalling his life's memories along the way. His very dramatic scene with Gopika near the end was probably the highlight of the film for me.

The movie takes yo through some sweet memories you have down the line. We all surely do have some unforgettable memories that keeps haunting us. 1st love at the age of 16, break up and falling in love again at college, which is common yet unspoken.
This film takes you back to some of the emortional moments of life and rekindles it. After watching the film I wish I could go back to my past just to revist and experience those moments just one last time.
Excellent film, very well executed.
