Hong Kong actress Linda Chung, 32, has given birth to her first child with husband Jeremy Leung, six months after they got married in Vancouver, Canada.

The baby was born in the city's B.C. Women's Hospital & Health Centre, TVB Entertainment News said, without revealing whether it is a boy or girl.

The television report added that Leung, a chiropractor, has taken long leave from work to take care of his wife and newborn.

Chung's close friends and fellow TVB actresses Christine Kuo, Eliza Sam, Grace Wong and Lianne Li have refused to divulge more information about the birth, Ming Pao Daily News reported.

"The girls and I just talked and decided to wait for Linda to announce it herself when it's time," Kuo was quoted by Oriental Daily News as saying.

The group had flown to Vancouver to attend Chung's lavish wedding banquet in February.

When asked if it was a shotgun marriage as it happened so suddenly and quickly, the former beauty queen reportedly said that she didn't consider it one as she had known her husband, who is 13 years her senior, for 10 months.

Less than three months after the wedding, Chung announced she was pregnant without saying when the baby would be due.
