Edward Kosmal St. Louis Post-Dispatch Sidney Lumet's solid success is achieved without even once resorting to flashbacks or other standard procedures of the film trade. The secret rests in spirited dialogue, realistic setting and, of course, the excellent cast of outstanding character actors. Jan 31, 2023 Full Review Chris Stuckmann ChrisStuckmann.com This movie is a masterpiece. That term gets thrown around a lot -- it's a very easy thing to say about great films like this -- but this movie is one of the best. This is one of the very few films that I will call perfect. Rated: A+ Jan 26, 2018 Full Review Joshua Rothkopf Time Out Too few films take on the art of arguing as a subject; we could certainly use more of them, but until then, Lumet's window into strained civic duty will continue to serve mightily. Rated: 5/5 Jul 3, 2013 Full Review Matt Brunson Film Frenzy This arguably remains Sidney Lumet's most compelling work, a sweaty, sustained drama that milks its claustrophobic setting for all it’s worth. Rated: 4/4 May 8, 2023 Full Review Danielle Solzman Solzy at the Movies 12 Angry Men is one of the best courtroom dramas in cinematic history. Rated: 5/5 Apr 18, 2023 Full Review Sean Axmaker Stream on Demand It’s a near perfect mix of theme and setting, personal drama and social commentary, a microcosm that suggests an entire world outside the frame ... Audience Member Great actors but a bizarre script that takes the side of a likely murderer. The script sets up a motive for the killer, gives him a timeline that fits the crime, sets up evidence against him, and utterly fails to give us any other reasonable or plausible alternative/killer. For example, there is no sign of forced entry in the victims apartment, so the victim knew the killer. Nothing was stolen from the victim, so robbery was not a motive. The victim was killed in a manner that was clearly personal. At the end, with the information we have, we are to left to think that the kid is obviously guilty. And yet, the movie takes the killer's side, with Fonda portrayed as noble for doubting his guilt, and those convinced of it portrayed as utterly devoid of conviction, unable to express the basic truths of the case in a simple manner as I have above. There is no way you can watch this movie, take in the information given, and think the kid in any way is innocent, and yet that is the side the movie takes. Replace the unseen kid with O.J. Simpson, and you have a pretty good idea of how absurd this movie is. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 05/13/24 Full Review Mohamed K Stands as a timeless classic of American cinema, a gripping courtroom drama that transcends its genre to delve into the complexities of human nature, prejudice, and the pursuit of justice. Shot almost entirely within the confines of a jury deliberation room, the film is a masterclass in tension and character dynamics, holding viewers spellbound from start to finish. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/12/24 Full Review Marcell B It is just one of the best movies ever made. The acting is fantastic, the story is really good, and the dialouges, are incredible! Really just a perfect movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/25/24 Full Review Derek N Amazingly acted and written, glad I finally saw this classic. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/08/24 Full Review Jayden C The best movie of all time. Great acting, writing, and screenplay. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/22/24 Full Review Kifah A "Transport yourself back to 1957 and marvel at the cinematic prowess of this theatrical gem. Shot with masterful precision, the film captivates with its seamless single-camera technique, allowing each actor to shine in their pivotal roles. Every moment demands your attention, weaving together an unforgettable story that resonates long after the credits roll." Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/20/24 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
