We had the Sunday roast--one of us had beef and the other lamb--with all the side dishes and it was great. We are staying in the neighborhood and it was a great place on a rainy Sunday night. The staff was very friendly.
Great for an affordable pub lunch, always a good selection of dishes and the beer is reasonable. Friendly staff and outside seating
walked in at 11pm last night and asked for 2 pints and a glass of wine. the barman says were closing i said ok and turned to leave he says f**k off under his breath but quite loud!!! all 3 of us heard it i...asked what, pretty shocked he says were closing the pub was still very busy so they must have just stopped serving we just left as we had better things to do on a friday night. my friend was going to book his birthday there... was wowMore
Was treated awfully. The manager picked up 20 pounds which was next to my friends wallet that he had dropped. Not sure how he couldn't see my friends wallet along with the twenty pounds. Asked if it was one of ours . We did not...claim it immediately because my friend had not realised he had dropped his wallet. Then when I went to tell the manager he would not return it. As the twenty pounds was in the wallet I really cannot give him the benefit of the doubt and it is clear he was just taking advantage because my friend was drunk. He tells us he put it in the charity pot which I really hope was true but given his character and that the twenty pounds was with the wallet I disbelieve this.More
After repeated attempts to get into the crowded and noisy Marquis Cornwallis Pub across the Holiday Inn Bloomsbury, chose the Lord John Russell Pub down the street. Went for a Sunday dinner and, while most of the weekend menu selections were gone by Sunday evening,...we still had a relaxing pub dinner and beer experience. The pub is friendly, cozy, warm, and has a good used book store across the street if you need reading material. I would recommend it as a quiet neighborhood alternative to the hectic social atmosphere of the nearby Cornwallis.More
As this pub was located right next to our hotel we stopped in and had a few pints. really nice cozy pub with good beer on tap for a decent price.
A little gem of a pub with a wide variety of drinks available. A good food menu, all food cooked fresh and always hot. The place itself has a nice relaxed ambiance and is very comfortable.
I go here whenever I work in London, it's a cracking pub, loads of world lagers, loads of local / UK ales, spot on staff and always a good atmosphere albeit quite or full.
A busy little pub in a smart area of Bloomsbury. We called in on the way back to the hotel in Cartwright Gardens and although it was only 10-45 we were told by a very brusque barman that he was calling last orders and would have...to hurry up.That would have been acceptable if the pub hadn’t been half full of punters with full glasses which were still nearly full when we had drunk ours and left. Not a friendly face from the host.More
We went to the pub for a Sunday night dinner. I had the beef and ale pie, and my husband had the fish and chips. The portions were large, and the food was delicious. Both entrees were served with a variety of steamed vegetables. Naturally,...the Guinness on tap was great. The price was fair, and the service was good. We had a very pleasant dinner.More
Dropped in here for lunch. Convivial place, very busy. Beer was good and sensible prices. My wife and I had ham, egg and chips. The ham was very nice, tasty and hand carved. The dish was spoiled though by a meagre portion of skinny chips...(who likes skinny chips anyway?) and two overcooked eggs. It has to be the easiest dish to do well. The ham is the most expensive ingredient don't blow it for a few pence and overcooking fried eggs.More
Pub ruined by short measured pints, always complain, landlord inside the statutory marked pint glasses are over sized. Let’s allow trading standards decide who’s right
Our group of friends went here for lunch and we had a really good time! It was a nice day so we sat outside and enjoyed a nice breeze. Our group had both pub food and drinks, and no one had any complaints :) The...man working at the bar when we went was really funny and very friendly. The prices were very reasonable. This restaurant appealed to us because it is very near to our hotel (the Mentone), and also near to Russell Square Station/the Brunswick mall.More
Looks like a great place to watch rugby, from the decorations, although I was there during the 6 Nations matches. The Sunday roast was good, but nothing special. Service was friendly and relatively efficient.
