Good evening,

We are going to be in Edinburgh on a 1 day stop from a cruise ship in early September

Because of a time limitations, we can only visit Edinburgh castle or Holyrood palace.

I really would like to visit Holyrood palace, but it's further away from the center and we are really limited in time

Furthermore, need advise on transportation. Will need to use taxi/Uber/Bolt. What is a reliable service in Edinburgh?

Holyrood isn't further away from the centre.

Which of Edinburgh's 4 cruise ports are you arriving at
