I'm very disappointed in you, Delta: destruction of a Fontaine asset is punishable by summary dismissal! Shall I simplify that for you? Fired. Fired! FIRED!
~ "Alex the Great" loses his temper.
Oho! Come back to line your pockets with more Fontaine ingenuity, have you? Understand, sir, that I am the body corporate. Understand, sir, that I am Alex the Great! A company is an organism, my friend - I can piss you right back out into the ocean with just a little squeeze!
~ Alex the Great introducing himself to Subject Delta.

Doctor Gilbert Alexander, later known as Alex the Great after losing his mind, is a major antagonist in the science fiction video game BioShock 2, being the main antagonist of the level "Fontaine Futuristics".

An ambitious scientist, Alexander was one of Rapture's leading researchers prior to the city's collapse into lawless anarchy; following this, he became a dedicated member of the Rapture Family, faithfully serving the Family's goals of creating a true Utopian Being.

Though he proved to be instrumental in the development of Sofia Lamb's experimental techniques to this end, Alexander has been in self-imposed exile beneath the long-abandoned Fontaine Futuristics building for several years as a result; as such, he becomes a direct threat to Subject Delta during his journey through the apparently deserted corporate headquarters.

His Evil Ranking[]

Debated Validations[]

  • When the player decides to spare him, Alex claims that he will start a new life. However, it is up to debate whether he was telling the truth or not.

His Villainous Deeds[]

  • Before becoming Alex the Great, he was an employee of Fontaine Futuristics and Ryan Industries, where he conducted unethical experiments. He is responsible for creating the Alpha series and their Little Sisters pairing mechanism.
  • Judging by the number of bodies in Fontaine facility. Alex has ''terminated'' hundreds of his employees, presumably for really trivial reasons.
  • In Fontaine Futuristics, he killed one of his employees for stealing supplies.
  • He has attempted to murder Delta multiple times by sending many of his Splicers or Alpha Series Big Daddies. Also, from the beginning he mocked and insulted Delta all the time.

Why Doesn't He Stand Out?[]

  • He completely lost his sanity because of ADAM mutation.
  • It is heavily implied that he was forced to work for Fontaine. Although this cannot justify his crimes, since he was actively involved in many projects and had no problem with it.
  • As Gilbert he expressed remorse for his heinous actions and wanted to redeem himself by working for Rapture Family.
  • He fails the heinous standards in BioShock series.
