Liam Rosenior: Hull City boss hopeful contract extension will be announced soon

Hull City head coach Liam Rosenior says he is "super close" to extending his contract with the Championship club.

The 39-year-old took over at the Tigers in November 2022 on a two-and-a-half-year deal.

Tuesday's 4-1 home win over struggling Rotherham moved them up to sixth in the second tier.

"The reason it's taken time is because we're so relaxed. Everything's nearly agreed, there's no disagreements," he told BBC Radio Humberside., external

"It's super close, hopefully it'll be announced really soon. I want to commit my future to this wonderful football club that I love and that is a privilege to be the manager of.

"I feel like we've got the building blocks for something really good."

Rosenior, who spent five years with the club as a player, took over when they were one point above the relegation zone and led them to 15th last season.

Forward Jaden Philogene has been central to their bright start to the campaign.

The England Under-21 international has scored six goals and contributed five assists since joining from Aston Villa on transfer deadline day.

Rosenior has acknowledged that Philogene's form could see him receive more attention from opposition defences as they face improving Watford on Saturday.

"He's been excellent and he's improving every game. He's a goal threat, he provides so much pace and he's reliable in possession," he added.

"He just loves playing football and expressing himself and I think that shows in his performances. It's great to see.

"I don't know how you'd stop him. We'll see what Watford do but I just want us to go and play our way and dominate as we did on Tuesday."
