STEM superstars assemble! Christina Advanced Academic Students Compete

4th and 5th grade advanced academic students came together to showcase their innovation and creativity in STEM.

On April 20, fourth- and fifth-grade advanced academic students from ten Christina School School District schools - Downes, Gallaher, Keene, Leasure, Maclary, Marshall, Wilson, West Park Place Elementary Schools, as well as the Bancroft and Bayard Schools - came together to showcase their innovation and creativity in STEM at the annual Delaware Science Olympiad. The Delaware Science Olympiad is a vibrant and engaging event that challenges students to elevate their science education through a series of competitive and stimulating activities.

The day was filled with energy and excitement as teams from various schools gathered to test their skills in a wide range of events. From exploring the intricacies of the human body in "Anatomy" to engineering a robust structure in "Straw Tower," students were immersed in hands-on experiences that brought science to life. The "Can Race" and "Circuit Wizardry" events had students showcasing their technical skills, while the "Egg Drop" put their engineering and design prowess to the test. In "Forest Finds," they explored the wonders of nature, and "Optics" allowed them to play with light and lenses. "Write It, Do It" fostered teamwork and communication, while "Solar System" encouraged a deeper understanding of our cosmic neighborhood.

Overall, the Delaware Science Olympiad provided a fantastic platform for students to collaborate, learn, and ignite their passion for science. It was an inspiring day that left a lasting impression on all who attended, demonstrating the immense potential of hands-on science education.
