Raised in Hollywood, CA, Richardson has become a fixture in the New York and Los Angeles fashion and art scene, where his signature look of aviator sunglasses and handlebar mustache are as recognizable as his sexually explicit photographs.

Richardson’s work has appeared in campaigns for Gucci, Sisley, Miu Miu, and Cholé, as well as in music videos and commercials. Richardson’s photographs have been published in numerous books, including Hysteric Glamour (1998), Terryworld (2004), Kibosh (2006), and Lady Gaga x Terry Richardson (2011), a year-long collaborative documentation of the pop singer’s life. His late 2011 show Mom & Dad at the Half Gallery in New York City presented a collection of photographs and memories of his parents; an accompanying monograph was published by Morel Books. In early 2012, Terrywood, Richardson’s first solo show in Los Angeles, was held at OHWOW gallery. This exhibition included over 20 works exploring the culture of Hollywood.
