I am at AI DuPont High School currently for my first year as a sophomore. And if I am being honest this school has been the worst experience in my life so far. The students show little to no regard for their academics, teachers, and fellow students. Multiple fights occur every single day with administration doing absolutely nothing in their power to stop them and potential fights. I switched to this school because I thought there may have been a larger variety of diversity at this school but I was completely incorrect. Almost every single kid in this school is in large similar groups who actively fight each other regularly. And if you aren't a part of these horrible groups there's a chance you will be horrendously bullied by them if you're even slightly different from the majority (Like me). The food is almost inedible, offering pizza every single day along with the trashy dairy bags they also have. If you have any regard for your future, stay away from this school.
I liked that the athletes were supported. Sports teams were families. Parents went out of their way to support, cheer, and encourage us. I liked some of the teachers and staff. I was disappointed with the classes and learning opportunities offered. I was disappointed by the guidance department who shared military info with me, but never discussed college or career. I would like to see more opportunities for future students, to participate in fieldtrips, to access more meaningful experiences. I hope future students have better opportunities to explore internships in community, and participate in better extracurricular activities. I hope future students are provided better guidance and support to explore higher education and understand the Federal Student Aid application.
AI gave me a lot of opportunities and helped myself figure our my passion in filmmaking. But, some people don't wanna take those opportunities or don't wanna put in the work and so they waste there time at the school, and people like that definitely demotivated me to do work at times. I wish the school would do a better job at showing these teachers, classes, clubs and more that will help with people's opportunities in any field. I also wish the district helped AI out a bit more as AI can only do so much because of its low funding.
