New York Liberty Announce Roster of Broadcast Talent for 2024 Season

NEW YORK (May 10, 2024) – The New York Liberty today announced a roster of high-caliber broadcast talent for their home game telecasts on FOX5 and WWOR My9, the team’s Official TV Partner, this season—including play-by-play commentators Michael Grady, Zora Stephenson, and Chris Shearn, color analysts Ros Gold-Onwude and Julianne Viani-Braen, and courtside reporter Tina Cervasio. Throughout the season, the Liberty will also feature special guest broadcast talent.

On play-by-play, Michael Grady will make his return to the WNBA to join the Liberty as a play-by-play announcer for the 2024 season, in an expansion of his previous work calling games in 2022 and 2023 with the team. Currently the play-by-play announcer for the NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves, Grady previously worked as the Brooklyn Nets’ sideline reporter for six years with YES Network. The Liberty have also brought on Zora Stephenson, who made history in 2021 when she became the first American-born Black woman to call an NBA game. Stephenson first broadcast with the Liberty during their home opener in 2021 and is returning to the role for a fourth consecutive year. Joining Stephenson and Grady is Chris Shearn, the team’s most recent play-by-play, who has been with the Liberty since the 2019 season.

Emmy Award winning sportscaster and New York-native Ros Gold-Onwude returns to the New York Liberty as a broadcast analyst after previously working with the team in a similar role from 2012-2017. Joining Gold-Onwude as analyst is Julianne Viani-Braen, who has previously handled analyst duties for the team with YES Network and has also served as the voice of the New York Liberty since 2016.

20-year broadcast veteran and seven-time New York Emmy Award Winner Tina Cervasio rounds out the talent roster as the Liberty’s courtside reporter. Cervasio is currently FOX5’s Lead Sports Anchor and Reporter serving both “Good Day New York” and evening newscasts. Cervasio is also the host of the weekly sports show, “Sports Xtra,” every Sunday night.

The New York Liberty’s 24 locally televised regular season games on WNYW FOX 5 and WWOR My9 will be available in more than 7.5 million households throughout the Tri–State area. Coming off the team’s first WNBA Finals appearance since 2002, the Liberty are slated to open the 2024 season on My9 at the Washington Mystics on Tuesday, May 14.
