Creep (2014) is one of the most unsettling films I've seen in years.
Holy shit. I've passed this movie so many times on Netflix without giving it a second thought but after seeing it on a list of horror to watch instantly I decided to give it a shot and god damn, Mark Duplass is amazing and it kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I cant stop thinking about it. Apparently the sequel is great as well but I honestly don't think I could sit through another hour and a half like that tonight.
The sequel is very different. I personally found it more entertaining, but I enjoy both. To me the sequel is a little funnier and self aware. It’s a different tone to say the least. Absolutely worth a watch if you enjoyed the first.
I loved the sequel too. Was a weird fucked up love story in a way. Mark duplass is great man.
I wouldn't say love story. Neither character really loved the other in any capacity, IMHO. She was in love with the idea of helping someone with her show. Giving them an experience she thought they wanted or needed. We saw that earlier when she was cradling a guy that had some kind of disorder. And Mark's character is more looking for entertainment and novelty than anything else. They're both fascinating characters though, and I thought she was a perfect compliment.
I dunno, maybe it was just me but I thought there was a chemistry there in all the bizarreness. Something in their comical attempts to murder each other. It wasn't as sinister as the first one in that regard, but maybe I'm just projecting and reading it totally wrong.
My impression was that she was in it for the fun and games and novelty at first, until he actually tried to hurt her, at which point "shit gets real" and she realizes he is totally batshit. When she hits him with the shovel I felt more intensity and less comedy, personally. However, she is also wearing his... I forget, necklace?... at the end on the train, and we don't really know why. It could be she wears it as a memento/keepsake/reminder of the encounter, or I guess you could take a more romantic angle and say she loved him at least partially, or had some kind of codependent thing with him. I like how the movie is somewhat ambiguous, tbh. I don't think there is a clear answer.
In my opinion it’s a lot less scary than the first, but they do some really interesting stuff with the character. I’m excited for the third.
there’s gonna be a third?? no waayy
Tubby time
I have seen all the saw movies and that scene messed me up.

I absolutely loved this film and it has one of the most accurate horror movie scenes ever. No spoilers except for the scene.
A scary noise happens at night and the character jumps up saying "lights lights light light" while turning on every light in the house.
"I raped my own wife"
and then it wasn’t even his wife 😭
Yup, this was a pleasant surprise . Watched it one night because I thought it would be funny to see the guy from The League in a horror movie, but ended up legitimately enjoying both the original and the sequel.
The sequel is also quite good.
You should really watch the sequel. Duplass is even better in it, and it really messes with you as a viewer. I will say though that it is full of "cheap jump scares" which are there intentionally to be cheap but it still comes off as annoying just a bit. I can't wait for whatever they do with the 3rd one.
The jump scares in the first one were annoying af, I was sp annoyed first half w him until the second half when he starts really going off the deep end 😑
Wow, did I misread read that title. I thought it said 'Creed' not "Creep". I was all like "what's so 'unsettling' about a good boxing movie".
Or it could be about Creed Braxton.
Bratton
Scott Stapp is unsettling always.
dude hangs dong on the second one lol

yea i just didn't think he'd do it. i was watching with my sister and it got awkward real quick. his dong was out for like half a minute lol
Both looking awkwardly at each other, a nervous laugh, she glances down, you blush, both look away, your hands creep closer, the beginning of a beautiful relationship
just... no.
Watched it and just couldn't take it seriously. I was very disappointed with it.
Why couldn’t you take it seriously? Was it the way duplass acted?
It was a little too over the top. It's like they were trying to make it a dark comedy but it wasn't.
I kinda felt the same way. It was just so fucking strange
Well I think that was the point of the film and what duplass wanted to get across to the audience
You know, I kind of felt the same way when I watched it, but I think it's really good set-up for the sequel.
I know this is 5 years old but just watched this and you're so right. The ending was just straight up horrible writing. I get suspension of disbelief but there's literally so many times where Aaron's actions are just so illogical and profoundly dumb.
This and the sequel are both really enjoyable films, they are full of some cheap jump scares but outside of that they're stories which are self aware, funny and just that right amount of weird.
I just saw this and I can't stop thinking about it. It was simple in so many ways and yet so effectively...creepy. Loved it, am looking forward to watching it again and checking out the sequel.
I'm in the minority thinking the first is better, but the second one is really good as well.
I respect your opinion but personally this was one of the worst horror films I've ever seen.
Same.
Never trust the Reddit hype.
Absolute classic. Sadly the sequel didnt deliver and fell flat towards the end
stopped trailer when it said combination of what about bob and fatal attraction. Gonna watch it now!
That is.... an oddly apt description.
Creep (2004) starring Franka Potente is very different. Took me a while to realize people were talking about a completely separate movie. It’s terrible by the way, don’t watch it.
Creep 2014 was ok. I found myself rewriting the dialogue the first few minutes but it got better. The shakey camera is overused and I wish it had gone a little more where it could have but for a Saturday afternoon it was alright. Mark Duplass was definitely unsettling.
I actually liked it. Great setting.
Same, thought it was pretty unsettling.
Setting was super creepy! It was grosser than I had expected.
That's the one with the "abortion" scene, right?
Gonna be honest the trailer isn't really grabbing my attention...
its a bad trailer but i found it to be a really good film
But wait it gets better...Creep 3 is in development
Creep 1 and 2 are my favorite horror movies of all time honestly. Mark Duplass is fucking phenomenal.

Yeah, just check into a hotel or go to a police station with the video footage, still loved the movie.
It's a great film. I really enjoy Mark Duplass' work, both behind the scenes as well as in front of the camera. I haven't watched the sequel out of fear of being disappointed.
It bored me to death.
Sequel is pretty good, the third one should be great as the creator compared Creep 1/2 to like Evil Dead 1/2 and the third one could be like Army of Darkness.
For me it's not a movie that lends itself to a second watch, much like Blair Witch for me, but I too found myself absorbed by the creeping horror. Loooove Mark Duplass and mumblecore
I started watching this but forgot about it.....i'll have to go back
I did watch Blue Jay, which has Mark Duplass and Sarah Paulson. I enjoyed it, not sure if i liked it because it was some sort of passion project or i loved the chemistry between them
This has gotta be some kind of inside joke like what this is the worst movie I've ever seen omg nothing even happened
