      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

While Toni Collette heroically tries to bring Pieces of Her together, this lumbering mystery is too bogged down by backstory to satisfyingly cohere.

Brad Newsome Sydney Morning Herald An immediately intriguing piece of work built on acts of political and family terror committed decades before the present day. Collette and Heathcote are both terrific in roles that contrast in some ways but echo each other in others. Rated: 3.5/5 Mar 10, 2022 Full Review Karl Quinn The Age (Australia) Toni Collette is central to both and is absolutely superb. Bella Heathcote is equally involved, and though her character has much less complex material to work with, she’s terrific too. Rated: 3.5/5 Mar 10, 2022 Full Review Annabel Nugent Independent (UK) The series coasts on several genuinely shocking and well-executed twists, which do indeed puncture the haze of passive-watching we’re so used to. And maybe that adrenaline hit is enough. Rated: 3/5 Mar 7, 2022 Full Review Charlotte Harrison Charlotte Sometimes Goes to the Movies A compelling thriller, full of twists & turns, with impeccable central performances. Dec 20, 2023 Full Review Alisha Mughal Exclaim! On the face of it, it seems as though Collette as Laura is under-acting, portraying her character poorly, with not enough emotion. But really the opposite is true. Rated: 8/10 Apr 6, 2022 Full Review Steve Murray ArtsATL I’ve read and enjoyed a couple of Slaughter’s books. If you have, you’ll know there’s, well, much muchness about them in their pile-on of twists and revelations. Pieces is a good representative... Apr 1, 2022 Full Review Read all reviews

Christophe T Collette rocks as usual she is a force of nature. It's not the most awesome story but it is entertaining and easy to watch ! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/30/24 Full Review Linda L The story was changed almost totally from the book. I had a hard time watching. It was not tue to the book at all. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/01/24 Full Review Audience Member Flash-back galore... i finished it because my wife liked it. Only a few episodes were good. Hard to like the Mother. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/24/24 Full Review Denver T A disjointed, weakly written, confusing, tenuously plotted and poorly voiced-over/sound edited Netflix production. Toni Colette, and some of the supporting cast (Omari Hardwick), put in decent performances, but many cast members, such as Bella Heathcote, David Wenham and Joe Dempsie, are particularly wooden, and don't add much to the poor quality of the story or film production. If you like mystery, intrigue and complicated plot lines, well this could be for you, yet you may soon be wishing the series was enclosed in two episodes rather than the production's overlong eight (~420 minutes). Rated 1 out of 5 stars 10/07/23 Full Review Carol W It's not bad, but I cannot figure out for the life of me why in one of the earlier scenes Andy wanders around trying to use a key to get into the vehicles outside of her mother's home. I don't even know of a car made in the last 20 years that doesn't have a remote. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/24/23 Full Review Visual P If Andy's character wasn't so frustratingly stupid this would be a 5-star show. The character is supposed to be scared yet smart, I think. But she's written as inept, incompetent, lacking any and all emotional intelligence with no common sense or life skills... all around annoying. That's a shame because the acting is good. The writing on the other hand really leaves a lot to be desired. All the other characters are written well enough for a first season and are acted very well. But as for Andy-just kill her off already so the show gets good. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 09/12/23 Full Review Read all reviews
