Thomas A. Edison Career & Technical Education High School Reviews
Rating 3.85 out of 5 661 reviews
In the beginning of my journey at Edison I felt like every other student, suffering from isolation and little involvement. I felt caught up in the glory of Junior High School, and the major FOMO while I left all the schools with my past friends. Time passed, and the school places a peer-group connection program between freshmen and seniors. I was able to communicate with the seniors and take of view of their past four years with COVID-19 and the adversity of their lives moving so quickly. The program was not the main part, but the comfortable environment that the school provides. The considerate friends I made were a large factor I admire the school. There are a diverse selection of students and staff, and I feel the array of stories and lives. The largest change I desire from the school is a larger variation of classes provided. From advance placement to honors to different system of the courses I may take.
Thomas Edison Technology CTE High School provides a nurturing environment where students can thrive academically and socially. The emphasis on safety is apparent, with rare instances of conflicts, fostering a sense of security. The wide array of clubs, including the Cybersecurity Shop Class, Art Club, Film Society, and more, offer avenues for students to explore their interests and passions. Additionally, the flexibility in scheduling, with options like the one-to-eight and two-to-nine schedules, accommodates diverse learning needs. The availability of tutoring sessions further supports students in achieving their academic goals. The dedication of the teachers is evident, contributing to the overall positive atmosphere and facilitating meaningful connections between students and educators. Overall, Thomas Edison Technology CTE High School provides a well-rounded educational experience, equipping students with the skills and knowledge necessary for their chosen fields.
My experience with Thomas A. Edison CTE High School has been mostly positive, with CTE or "shop" classes being extremely helpful in preparing me for careers after high school. For example, my shop class is Communications Design, where we learn and earn certifications on applications such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and Indesign. This class has allowed me to develop skills I need to have to go into a career of Graphic Design. We're provided with loads internship opportunities in the field. I got to intern at the Museum of Arts and Design! Friends of mine have interned at different museums and art schools earning $20 an hour. Besides the CTE classes, the clubs at the school make school life fun. Edison's Key Club just held a gingerbread house competition. Edison's Black Student Union holds a showcase of thr African Diaspora, where students watch in the auditorium. Edison's South Asian Student Association holds events like Bollywood Night and Henna Day. These are only a few examples.
