John Adams High School Reviews
Rating 3.55 out of 5 277 reviews
There's lots of resources for the students who need them and the school, in particular, isn't bad, the problems lie with the students. There are frequent fights, away from my eyes but it's a known fact. Other than the delinquency the teachers are pretty nice and there is a good selection of AP and IB classes. For students who know what they came to do at school, it will be easy excel here. The small learning community (SLC) format also tailors your classes to what you want to be.
The school is split into Small Learning Communities (SLC). I am in the Pre-Med SLC which offers opportunities for those who want a future career in Medicine! Each SLC provides many opportunities in pre-med you can graduate as a Medical Assistant! I don't know much about the pre-med SLC because I joined the IB diploma program in 11th grade, another great thing the school offers. With the IB diploma program, students can earn 30 college credits. It is a course that allows students to challenge themselves. The only thing about the IB program is that it needs to be more refined. While most teachers are great at their jobs there is a lack of support but there is new leadership in the IB department and things are changing for the younger generations interested in the IB. The Academic opportunities are amazing but the environment can be better. The school is crowded and some of the students are disgusting! Leaving lunch trays in stairwells! And much more.
Throughout the years I've spent at John Adams High School, it's been a unique experience. I primarily enjoyed the academics and extracurriculars the school provided, such as sports, NHS, robotics, science olympiad, and many more. These opportunities ultimately allowed me to explore my career interests. In addition, the teachers in the school are also great (most are friendly and outgoing to help you succeed) and the school thrives in a very diverse community in both teachers and students. Furthermore, John Adams frequently engages its students by encouraging participation in activities regarding many activities, beit after-school, extracurricular or SLC activities. On the other hand, if there was one thing I could change, it would be the safety of the school. I do not always feel comfortable or secure because incidents have occured and there are many students with addictive substances, which the school does not recognize and attempt to resolve.
