Q:Can i use flexfix for class 1 tape on range hood ducting
by|Mar 23, 2024
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  FlexFix™ UL181B-FX Film Tape is a tough, contractor grade closure system for Class 1 flexible air ducts and connectors, sealing reflective and bubble insulation and suitable for metal to metal connections in HVAC and refrigeration applications. We would recommend a foil tape for your range hood ducting such as Nashua 32A - https://www.homedepot.com/p/Nashua-Tape-2-5-in-x-60-yd-324A-Premium-Foil-HVAC-UL-Listed-Sealer-Duct-Tape-1542698/100048600

Q:Hello, does this tape block odors?
    by|Jan 16, 2024
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  Hi there. This tape isn't specifically designed to block odors. Because it is designed for flexible duct applications, we can't recommend it for odors specifically.

Q:can flexfix be used on furnace exhaust pipes
        by|Nov 14, 2023
        1 Answer
        Answer This Question

A:  Hi there. FlexFix has an operating temperature of -40F to 212F, which is likely lower than that of a furnace exhaust pipe. Before applying the tape, you would want to ensure the operating temperature is within range.

COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY AND TIME
Bought this tape to finish some duct work. I had another brand of tape that worked great. This tape is junk. It is rolled on itself and it’s impossible to unroll. It rips and tears and is impossible to get started. I had to use little tiny pieces that I could salvage to try to finish my job. Worst tape wver

            It STICKS only to ITSELF
The sticky part is on the outside of the roll once you pull back the tab... I cut down through half of the roll trying to get to a section that wasn't that way.... I never got anything but the sticky stuff on the wrong side and therefore useless as glue was was on both sides. Apparently, it is a common occurrence based upon other reviews I am reading ...now... too late to do me any good.

I have found no special attributes that would make this an all weather tape. I believe Its adhesive properties fall below the original duct tape and its rip strength is questionable. The construction lacks any strengthening materials such as cloth or scrim. Its not my ideal choice in its class of tapes.

This tape is ok if you use it all within a year or so. I bought it to tape some duct work and it seemed ok but when I needed to use it again a year and a half later, the metal coating came off as I unrolled the tape plus it was no longer sticky. It was never stored in an extreme environment.

The tape worked great!!! It held great on an HVAC system that is pushing air against it and it still held. The tape blends in well too which makes it not all that noticable.

Cheap trash that is unusable after spending one season inside my air conditioned house. The roll of tape is stuck to itself and is unable to unravel as you would normally expect. I will now go out of my way to never buy a Nashua product again.

                  Awful quality
I purchased two rolls of this tape and both rolls are unusable. I literally took one roll out of its plastic wrapper and the backing peeled right off the tape. The tape actually stuck to itself like it was melted together. I used about three yards off the other roll and just chalked the first one up to a bad roll. Then it started doing the same thing. Out of anger/frustration I must have wasted another 1/4 of the roll trying to get it to work properly. Now I have $25 of worthless tape. I'm ticked to say the least, now I'll have to go buy more of another brand and hope it works.
