County honour for Perse tennis player
Etienne Lamb (Year 7) has received a special award for his contribution to county tennis at Wimbledon.
The talented tennis player picked up the accolade during the LTA Surrey Tennis awards presentation at the All England Lawn Tennis Club after being unbeaten in boys’ U11 singles matches while representing the county in the national cup competition in 2023.
He said: “It feels pretty good to have got an award because of my performances, especially with the ceremony being at Wimbledon. I played at No 2 for my county and we came second in the County Cup in our age group.”
Etienne has continued to enjoy some fantastic results this year, including coming third in the boys’ U12 doubles with a Hungarian partner and losing to the eventual champion in the singles at the Tennis Europe Cyprus tournament in Famagusta.
He said: “It’s been going well this year and it’s quite good playing people from different countries at international tournaments like this. Everyone has a different playing style and the way you play depends on who your opponent is.”
