'First Rays Of The New Rising Sun' In Dolby Atmos May 10
Anyone give it a spin yet? I don't have an Atmos system at home so can't judge.
Original announcement here.
Thx for the heads up
I'm waiting to hear about the First Rays vinyl remaster that just came out, too. Hopefully avoiding any brickwalling this time around...
Honestly my ABSOLUTE favourite Hendrix (compilation) album
Radically different mix on some tracks (listening bounced down to stereo on phones). Dolly Dagger is very bass heavy and loud, and lead guitar is buried in the mix. Huge disappointment, I feel
I felt the same about the new Electric Ladyland mix, particularly Gypsy Eyes. The lead guitar is so soft while vocals are right up front and almost too present throughout. And being so accustomed to the older mix, my ears are aching to hear those lead lines but they're off in the distance.
Yes, I agree. I think in the case (especially of New Rays) its was an opportunity to open up the mix and let the instruments breath a bit.
