Visited this resort from december 31st to january 7th. The Hideaway adult resort is actually composed of 3 blocks located next to the Royalton resort. As a guest at the Hideaway you have acces to a private adult only pool and restaurant as Well as a private part of the beach. But you also get acces To the Royalton resort and facilités (pools and restaurants, bars, etc.) which is huge ! Here are some pros and cons of the resort:

Timeshare "people" that call themselves concierge that call you everyday in your room ans harass you at the reception to sell you stuff. It s really anNoying

We stayed at the hideaway at Royalton riviera Cancun from Feb 1- Feb 8 and I cannot begin to explain how wonderful this resort is. We were diamond club and it was worth every penny for the upgrade. We had booked a jacuzzi terrace ocean view suite and were surprised when we arrived to find out that we had a roof top terrace with the jacuzzi, which was wonderful. The staff were so friendly and accommodating, going above our expectations. The food was the best resort food I’ve ever had, all high quality, fresh ingredients. Even when going to the beach, there was someone ready to make up the bed we were going to lay on with towels. I could not finish a drink fast enough before another was brought to me.
Now for the reason I am only giving it 4 stars instead of 5 stars. We received a phone call on our second day there that we needed to meet with the travel concierge to unlock all of our benefits of the diamond club. Thinking that I might miss out on something we paid for, I didn’t hesitate to go. She then started telling us about the new resorts that had opened and told us for a $50 resort credit we can go to a “private” breakfast presentation. Thinking this was their opportunity to try and get another vacation for next year -and we would get a special breakfast, we agreed. For the breakfast, the sales woman just took us to the buffet that we were headed to anyways and then insulted my boyfriend when he said he’s an engineer when asked what he does by looking at me and rubbing her fingers together like “oh money bags”. She then took us to the “sales room” and proceeded to try and get us to sign up for the vacation club for $20,000 up front and then $300 per year for 30 YEARS. My boyfriend kept saying no, then she got her manager and he started out nice but then got mean really fast and pretty much asked why we were there. Because we got tricked into it.
I’ve been to other 5 star resorts and they do not do this sales tactic. In my opinion, everything about this resort should have them up there with a secrets or a sandals but this is what I think is holding them back.
I would definitely refer this resort to anyone, and I would return myself. I would just advise to stay away from the very forceful sales people

On 23rd June 2019, my boyfriend and I stayed here for 2 weeks! The only way I can describe it is paradise!
On arrival we received a drink and a cool towel. Check in was nice and quick, as we entered the room I was blown away! Little did I know my other half and Orlando (head of concierge) had been planning for the room to be set up on arrival to propose to me. Wow! Orlando had done an amazing job the room was only what a girl could dream of her engagement to be like but he didn’t stop there! He upgraded us for our 2nd week (as that’s when the room became available) to a roof top jacuzzi room free of charge! Orlando then continued to make our stay amazing by checking we were ok throughout the stay and then gave us a free meal on the beach (which I would highly recommend) it was beautiful as the sunset, on the sand with the big LOVE letters lit up. Orlando went above and beyond his job and made our stay so special.
Mauricio... the pool butler, another gentleman who made our stay so special! Every morning he would look out for us and ensure we had beds by the hideaway pool, he also would come round and clean our sunglasses and give us cold towels to put on our shoulders and forehead when it was so hot during the day! The hideaway pool can get really busy so it sometimes is a bit of a struggle for beds but there are other pools and places to sit that it’s not a huge issue.
Juan and Carlos kept us hydrated (in water and alcoholic form) round the pool so we were never empty handed.
The hotel itself is immaculate, yes there is seaweed on the beach but that is out of control and I would not let it put you off staying here as everything else is just what you want from a holiday in paradise.
Our favourite restaurant was the hunter steakhouse! However the zen, Italian and Armadillo were all in close 2nd! We weren’t a fan of the buffet restaurant but that was our personal preference.
On a night they have plenty of entertainment round both the main pool and the hideaway pool to keep you entertained, the nightclub in the hotel is also open every night!
Overall the was the best holiday we have ever been on and I would highly recommend staying here! I would love to go back.

For starters, our travel agent recommended this resort as “luxury accommodations for a great price”. We went ahead and went with it at her suggestion. The room was less than exciting when we entered it and the stench of must and sewage was prevalent throughout, the resort is located in the middle of nothing but mangroves, and the beach on the Hideaway side was pretty much left in chaos.
We understand there was damage from a storm, but our travel agent had called and checked prior and they told her everything was fine. A lot of areas throughout the resort were caution taped off, then because of Covid, a lot of the lounges were also inoperable. Our elevator was down so we had to use the staff stairs all week, which was no big deal, but less than a luxurious view.
One major note I would like to point out is adults only pool was very loud and not relaxing at all, so depending on the vibe that you’re going for, this may or may not be the place for you.
We upgraded to the Hideaway side (Adults Only) and Diamond Club. The Hideaway side is so far from everything else in the resort, and I would like to mention, most of the restaurants are still family friendly, so again, you’re not completely getting that adults only experience. The only upgrade we really felt like we received from choosing the Diamond Club route was our butler. Our butler Kateryna was amazing. We saw her every day and she took great care to check on us. A lot of reviews we read said the extra money wasn’t worth it for Diamond Club. Some benefits were still unavailable due to Covid (the lounge with snacks and drinks), but we were whisked away to a private check-in, and our Kateryna was attentive to us all week! So, I guess it depends what benefit you want from the DC upgrade.
We did upgrade, and we were upset when we walked the entire resort to see the beach quality on the Royalton side was in way better condition than on the Hideaway side. Beach and grounds on the Hideaway side were not near as put together as the beach and grounds on the Royalton side.
The food was mediocre at best. We did go to Hunter a few nights because that was the best meal we had. We stayed for a week so had a taste of most of the restaurants. In resorts we have stayed at in the past, we felt like we truly ate well all week.
One thing that I hated was that from the Hideaway pool, you can’t see the ocean. There is a giant building in between, and you miss a lot of ocean view time if you’re hanging out at the adults only pool.
We both left saying there was no chance we would ever stay here again. The experience wasn’t HORRIBLE, but for the money we spent, we know we could have had a much better experience elsewhere. We also prefer an all adults only experience, rather than something that’s an afterthought at a family resort.
Room view from 1209 - building 1, floor 2 was directly into the restaurant. Make sure you keep your blinds shut in the evening or all the dinner goers can have a nice little show. ;)

Traditionally we have stayed at AM Resort (Secrets, Breathless, etc) but wanted to try something new. We chose this place because we thought it was adults only.... We are staying at Hideaway at the Royalton and paid for an upgrade to Diamond Club. Well, the reality of the situations is that “Hideaway” is attached to an massive family resort. 1.) The “Hideaway” / Adults only portion is essentially 1 restaurant (labeled as 3, because they serve different food throughout the day) and 1 small pool that only has enough pool lounge chairs for the 1/2 the amount of guests staying in the adults only section. Additionally, because the buildings are all connected there are families with kids across the hall from us in the “Diamond Club” area so it doesn’t feel like adults only 2.) the Diamond Club is a joke. We are use to the “Preferred Club” at AM resorts, and this doesn’t even compare. Essentially all that the Diamond Club provides is tiny half ass finger foods, and a separate check and check out area.
Positives= centrally locates between Playa del Carmen and Cancun, clean, ok services (when they aren’t pimping you to go to their 90 min presentation)

My partner and I first travelled to the Hideaway at Royalton Riviera Cancun for 7 nights in March 2018. We loved it so much, since then we’ve also stayed at the Hideaway at Royalton Negril, Royalton Suites Cancun and Chic Punta Cana.
The Hideaway at Royalton Riviera Cancun has been our favourite Royalton resort so far, so we decided to return for another 7 nights in late February 2020. This time, my parents also joined us for the trip.
The second time around we found the resort was just as amazing as the first time, if not better! A special shout out to all the hard workers at the resort who made our stay extra special:
• Ivan at the Hideaway Pool swim-up bar, who served us tirelessly each day. Thank you for always stocking up on the premium liquors for us (Hennessey and Grey Goose)! • Jackie (Jacqueline) our amazing Hideaway Pool server, who recommended specialty drinks, remembered our favourite drink orders and even brought us more rounds without even asking! Not to mention, the delicious poolside food menu that was also offered daily. Quick and accurate service every time. • Israel, Eric and Mauricio our Hideaway Pool attendants, who setup our pool chairs every day with towels, opened the sun umbrella when we needed it and cleaned our sunglasses! A special thanks to Israel for giving my mom a wet towel head massage by the pool, which helped her cool down in the sweltering heat! • Rose our Hideaway Room maid and Teodora our Hideaway Room turndown service maid, who left our room sparklingly clean daily, plenty of clean towels, including spraying a fresh scent throughout the room and made us beautiful towel art. • All the staff at the Dorado restaurant – particularly Esmeralda (Dorado Hostess) and Saul, Carlos, Luis Miguel and Moses (Dorado servers), who always accommodated our group and went above and beyond to ensure we were completely satisfied with the service. • Oscar, our Hibachi/Teppanyaki chef at Zen who cooked us an amazing dinner (fried rice, grilled vegetables, chicken, beef, shrimp and salmon) and entertained us the entire meal. • Angelica the incredible fitness instructor who led the Aqua Fit and Aqua Zumba classes at the Hideaway Pool.
We all can’t wait to return again soon!

Our 30th wedding anniversary could not be celebrated in a better place, we enjoyed it sooo much! From the beginning, Alejandra at reception was very helpful with our Reservation details, our room as well as the excellent customer service by all personnel were impeccable, including our "housekeeper" Raquel who always left beautiful details in the room! The daily shows were fantastic, so professional! Food in all restaurants was amazing! All pools were also great! Every detail was so well cared for: our daily breakfasts in El Dorado Restaurant incredible, and with the best: Angel and Fabian, you guys rock!! Also Arturo, Mario and Jonathan, our Stewards, always helping with anything we needed, we felt so indulged! Although we enjoyed beach time, weather was not the best, very windy this time of the year, and we wish the hotel could do something to reduce seaweed, maybe a seawall of some kind? We know some hotels in Cancun built something like that... food for thought for Royalton Management/owners. Overall the Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort is definitively a place to revisit more than once! Wish we could have more vacation days to stay longer! Thanks all!

The Royalton was such an excellent vacation. The food, service, pools, drinks were all amazing. The pool chairs were comfortable and the staff very attentive. I would return to this resort!
The restaurants were very good. If you weren’t the diamond club, you can reserve but would have to purchase wine from the wine list. We were a large group so very much worth it for Zen (Japanese) and Hunter (steak).
Things to note: the rooms facing away from the pool/beach would smell if you open the balcony doors. If you like straws with slushy drinks, bring reusable straws with you.

So we are still here, leaving tomorrow.! Would never EVER come here again. We’ve been to many places and this was the worst!! Reasons: 1: To get entertainment at the pool even to play volleyball was done by Rob & I 2: Every 20 minutes you have someone asking you if you want to buy a spa package, coco bongos, pictures etc. Really trying to hard and pissing us off. We are actually in the pool at the edge and they keep hounding you! 3: Room service was horrible in getting your food and even at room temperature 4: couldn’t get a table on New Year’s Eve unless you paid $50.00 and that was the entertainment outside that night 5: Ate at the Seafood restaurant tonight and we paid for the fresh lobster right out of the tank and it was not cooked properly at all. The menu has very few choices and they try to tell you they don’t have the Surf & Turf which is steak and lobster. We said we paid for the fresh lobster at $60.00 and $75.00 for the other and they suddenly had it. Table beside us waiter was saying they don’t have the surf and turf nor the shrimp artichoke salad but yet I got shrimp on my salad... it’s whether you pay extra or not. 6: same performers and pool side they play drab music, nothing to get you going. This is the adult side, so if you want boring, pay for everything and read a book, and never been to other resorts then is the place for you then. Our housekeeper was fabulous, our bar tenders Sexy Ivan & Old Henry were the best!! The main buffet was great 👍 and the steak house Hunters was fabulous!! However we would not recommend this place nor come back again!

We just recently returned from an amazing two-week vacation at the Hideaway at Royalton Riviera Resort and Spa. This was our fourteenth visit to the Hideaway and to say this stay " knocked it out of the park" would be an understatement!! From our arrival on January 9th to our departure on January 23rd, the warmth, hospitality, kindness, and attention to detail provided by the Hideaway staff (whom we consider friends), was simply outstanding. Each new visit to the resort brings wonderful new surprises but the one constant is our encounter with the great personnel which is second to none. Accordingly, it is only fitting that we express our sincere and heartfelt "Gracias" to the following people who made our recent holiday a very, very special one: Hideaway Managers: Senor Oscar and Senora Ximena (It was great to meet Señor Oscar for the first time.) Rosa has perceptively learned our routine and our room was always cleaned by mid-morning. We enjoyed the many high quality restaurants on the resort and, over time, the Zen, Dorado, and Grazie have become our favs. We dined regularly at 8:00p.m. and had reservations arranged by our very competent and attentive butler, Briz. Pre-dinner drinks were enjoyed in the Martini Mix Bar with after dinner drinks in the Lobby Bar. Other "don't miss" amenities/activities include the excellent Grande Marche Buffet, the Sports Bar, Coffee Shop, nightly entertainment in main area of the resort, daily and nightly entertainment in the Hideaway section itself and the activities presented by the very energetic Vibe Team (David and friends). The daily lunches around the Hideaway pool are delicious and offer a very nice variety. Our fifteenth visit is being planned within the next few months with family members who have also enjoyed holiday time at the Hideaway. As you can see we highly recommend this fabulous resort.
