About Us

By amending the Bihar Executive Rules, 1979 through the notification no –मं०मं०-01/ आर०-02 / 2007-602 dated 20.03.07 of the Cabinet Secretariat and Coordination Department, Backward Classes and Extremely Backward Classes Welfare Department has been made Nodal Department to implement and monitor the following subjects: - 1. To provide stipend to the Extremely Backward Classes. 2. To provide grants for books and accessories to the Extremely Backward Class Students. 3. To provide loan to the members of the Extremely Backward Classes for their development. 4. Establishing and managing hostels for the Extremely Backward Classes. 5. Formation of co-operative societies for the Extremely Backward Classes. 6. To provide subsidiary grant to educational and cultural institutions working for the benefit of the Extremely Backward Classes. 7 To provide stipend to the Backward Classes. 8. To provide grants for books and accessories to the Backward Classes. 9. To provide loan to the members of the Backward Classes for their development. 10. Opening and managing hostels for the Backward Classes. 11. Formation of co-operative societies for the Backward Classes. 12. To provide subsidiary grant to educational and cultural institutions working for the benefit of the Backward Classes. 13. Bihar State Backward Classes Finance and Development Corporation 14. Special Home-Building Schemes for Backward Classes and Extremely Backward Classes. At present, many important schemes are being run by the department for the educational development of students of this class. Among these, the main schemes are as follows: (1) Other Backward Classes Pre-Matric (School) Scholarship Scheme, (2) Other Backward Classes Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme, (3) Mukhmantri Pichhada Varg Medhavriti Yojana, (4) Mukhmantri Atyant Pichhada Varg Medhavriti Yojana, (5) Pre-Examination Training Centre, (6) Other Backward Class Welfare Hostel Scheme, (7) Jannayak Karpuri Thakur Extremely Backward Classes Welfare Hostel Scheme, (8) Operation of Other Backward Classes Girls Residential +2 High School, (9) Mukhmantri Pichhada Varg Evam Ati Pichhada Varg Kaushal Vikas Yojana, (10) Mukhmantri Atyant Pichhada Varg Civil Seva Protsahan Yojana, (11) Mukhmantri Pichhada Varg Evam Atyant Pichhada Varg Chhatravas Anudan Yojana, (12) Scheme for Supply of Food Grains in Hostels. The schemes are implemented through the Headquarters level and Regional level through Regional Deputy Director (Welfare), District Welfare Officer and Block Welfare Officer.
