2024 GO! St. Louis Marathon, Half Marathon & Relay in St. Louis, MO

GO! St. Louis Marathon, Half Marathon & Relay

Saturday, April 27 – Sunday, April 28, 2024 • St. Louis, MO • Course Map

The city known as the “gateway to the west” sees about 25,000 runners and walkers in all four races combined each year at the springtime GO! St. Louis Marathon & Family Fitness Weekend, which features a full marathon, half marathon and a marathon relay, all of which feature point-to-point courses and finish downtown.

All the races start just off Carr Street near the Martin Luther King Jr. Bridge and stay together for the first four miles of the race, which takes runners across the Martin Luther King Jr. Bridge into Illinois next door, on a loop along  then back into Missouri and downtown St. Louis across the Eads Bridge.

From there, the course takes runners along a route made up entirely of paved city streets, through the city’s downtown areas along the Mississippi River, toward and within great view of the famed Gateway Arch that marks St. Louis as the “gateway to the west,” as well as sights like the Cardinals’ Busch Stadium and the Anheuser-Busch Brewery.

The course will take runners across two bridges and into two states (previous years’ races have featured no bridge crossings for the half marathon). There’s even a “race within a race,” a 3 1/2-mile Bridge Challenge that runners can sign up for.

The elevation of the course ranges from about 400 to 550 feet above sea level throughout the overall race, and the changes in elevation are largely gradual inclines and declines, which can tempt you to run at a faster pace earlier in the race.

Past participants say to stick with your planned pace, however, as you can easily exhaust yourself, especially if conditions are unexpectedly warm. Probably the most significant hills occur around the third mile and the sixth mile markers, and the last few miles into the finish line are mostly downhill.

The course time limit for the half marathon is 3 hours, 15 minutes, which means runners will need to keep a pace of at least 14:52 per mile or faster. (Runners in the full marathon will have a course time limit of 6 hours, 30 minutes.)

Race Weather & Climate

Set along the banks of the mighty Mississippi River on the eastern edge of central Missouri, the city of St. Louis is known for typically mild to cool weather in the early spring, with relatively even rainfall and other precipitation throughout the year.

This marathon runs right at the corner of my business. This will hurt my business drastically. Me being a small minority business owner is very unfair. This will cost me dearly and piss off my customers, because they can’t get to my business. I’m pretty sure you guys think you did a great job, but you failed on this one. I would like to talk to someone about this marathon. You probably won’t get back to me because the little guys don’t matter as long as your precious marathon is successful.

      Hi Gregory,

It saddens me greatly to hear you describe the situation above. I’d like to make sure you get directed to the right place, however; we’re an informational website that lists races — we don’t actually organize or manage the races ourselves.

Here is where you should contact the organizers of the race:

      Good luck!

I have run the “GO St. Louis” Marathon or Half Marathon and the “GO Halloween” race every year since 2007. But last year during the Halloween half I was told that the shirts wouldn’t be available until a later date and that they would “make it up to me” by giving me a 30% discount on the spring race and they would mail my shirt when it became available. Needless to say I never received the shirt or the discount code. (Even tho I had their guarantee in writing). When I contacted the race director I was told that they would no longer honor that guarantee. So, I will no longer participate in this overpriced race.
