I've been coming to Joe Pops for years. I was so pleasantly surprised this year. The new owners are really brightening up the place. The fish tacos and the BLT (with fried green tomatoes) were so delicious. The outside area is perfect for an afternoon snack, while the bands at night still rock the house. Will def be going back.
Rude staff, have no idea how they can be in the business of hospitality. Been spending summers on LBI for years and was excited Tiki Joe’s has reopened, unfortunately the people running it have no business running it.
We have an all new owner/management team and have made a lot of changes to the environment, food and staff. We hope you will give the NEW Joe Pops a chance.
We went to the outdoor tiki bar for dinner. There’s a large bar, small stage and cornhole. Fun atmosphere, nice people. Service was friendly but slow. Food was basic bar food. Fine.
We rolled in just after the rain and had the place to ourselves. The apps were tasty - the happy hour menu is well priced but the servings are small. I imagine it’s happening when there are more people here. The service was very good.
Female bartenders look right at you and ignore you. Had to move to a different section of the bar to get served. The owners could make so much more money if they served more drinks.

First return here in three years and while the atmosphere is great for the beach, the food ordered, except for the mussel pots was just “ OK”.
My $17 crab cake in a sandwich had no lump meat, just shredded pieces with lots of filler. When I expressed my disappointment in the quality, they did offer to bring me “ something else “, but most offerings seem to be just “ bar food”, none of which excited me.
I shared some fresh raw oysters with a friend, who also usually loves them, but these had no real taste, nothing even close to those we’ve eaten at Chealsea Market or even in White Plains, NY at a seafood restaurant on Post Road. Being this close to the ocean, we expected better.
But the mussel pots are alright! Another friend ordered the fra diablo with an abundance of tasty mussels and big shrimp over linguine. She loved it. Her enthusiasm made me order the oreganoto pot (sp. )Good taste, but don’t know why they seemed to just dump some panko/ cheese crumbs on top of the shells.
So, you definitely will feel you are extending your beach day in the Pop’s atmosphere and if you like them, try the mussels.
( and I was charged full price for both the non- eaten crab cake and the mussel pot I ordered-kind of expected at least part of the price of the only picked at non-satisfactory to me sandwich might be deducted, but wasn’t worth having to argue after a great day at the waves!)
