One Tree Hill star Robbie Jones has opened up about the death of his fan-favourite character Quentin Fields. The actor first appeared in season five of the show, before his character was killed off the following season.

However, the actor claimed in a new chat on the Drama Queens podcast that his unexpected departure was due to his contract deal.

"This all unfolded because my series regular deal fell apart," he said. "I got an offer at the end of [season 5] to be a series regular, and it was not a good offer."

However, when he and his manager tried to get a better deal, Jones alleges his manager "went rogue" and things fell apart, adding: "Needless to say, we split ways after this whole thing."

Recalling the phone call when he learned that he was being killed off, the actor recalled the unnamed producer saying: "Understand that it's not because of you. We love you. We wanted you. But I have an idea for how this could affect the whole show."

Jones continued: "That was that. We had a nice, long conversation about how he was going to kill off my character," he added, admitting it was "kind of brilliant" and that he was told his character would return in a number of appearances throughout the season even after Quentin's demise.
