[Found] Season 2 of Prehistoric Planet (2002 — Discovery Kids)
I'm sure some of you may have seen this educational/comedy documentary. The first season was narrated by Ben Stiller but not the second season.
The first season (with the dinosaurs) was essentially a clipped/re-narrated version of the BBC "Walking with Dinosaurs" to appeal to an even younger audience for Discovery Kids. You can find this season on DVD quite easily... ...but not season 2 which has been seemingly lost. But I recently pulled out my old VHS tape that my grandmother used to record the series. It is 6 hours long. And should contain all the mammal episodes + the last four of the Mesozoic season (Liopluerodon, Ornithocheirus, Leaellynasaura, & T. rex)
How can I go about introducing this?? So far the tape seems to be in tact. Would it be better to sell the tape or digitally upload it myself?

Season 2 not being released on DVD doesn’t make it “lost”, just commercially unavailable. You could probably find this on torrent trackers easily.
Well you can find it then and lmk! Preesh. All I know from the ppl I've talked to on the forums/Facebook can only find still images of it
Go read the sub rules. This subreddit isn’t your personal army. You really want r/helpmefind for something like this.
I would upload it to Internet Archive.
Well, u/Consistent_River5563, You Should Digitally Upload It Yourself!
I don't really know how. Lol. I don't own a computer that isn't a dinosaur itself. I have contemplated on selling the tape to someone who could.
If you look up "digitizing vhs tapes" on YouTube there are many, many tutorials. I would be willing to do it but unfortunately I would only be able to pay for shipping. If you do sell it, please try to make sure it's to someone who would for sure digitize it if possible. I would absolutely adore seeing this as that series is a very fond memory of mine and I'm a bit obsessed with Discovery Kids and Animal Planet lost media in particular.
Thanks for the offer. I contacted someone locally to do it. Although when watching the tape the picture would kind of twitch side to side. I learned this is because of small creases on the film from years of use. But will these imperfection of the tape show up on the digital copy?
Playback is playback, when it comes to tape. It's possible the VCR is making it worse but if you can see creasing on the tape surface, it may not be fixable. A higher quality VCR might be able to correct some of it.
Very cool. Really wish they released a DVD for it like they did S1.
Where can I watch the first season on?
You can buy it on DVD
I used to have it on dvd but I accidentally threw it away 😭😭
It's still available as S1 on DVD. Just buy it online
