Johnstown does not have a lot of great restaurant options, and I was pleasantly surprised to find this cute and authentic Mexican restaurant while visiting my son at Pitt Johnstown. The food was good and the service attentive. Will definitely be back.

Another great lunch. The enchiladas are great. The chili rellanos are really good and sometimes quite hot. Personally I prefer the cheese ones. Warm nachos are a great snack. Always leave here full.

I’d give this 10 stars if I could! We went for a late dinner and it was so delicious, we came back for lunch the next day! Every dish the four of us had over the course of two days - Pollo Crema, Fried Chimichanga,...Yolanda’s, Shrimp Burrito, Chicken and Cheese Flautas, Taco and Fried Ice Cream, Flan, Churros, Chimi-Banana for dessert - was amazing! We live 4 hours away but are already talking about a weekend in Johnstown with this restaurant being a main attraction! Friendly staff and a clean and vibrant environment were icing on the cake! GO - you will not be disappointed!!!More

We ordered our food from one of the men and it was delivered by the Mexican women. She didn't deliver an extra order of burrito sauce which was ordered and when we mentioned it she got really snippy and said "not now". She came past...a second time and ignored us. Finally our waiter came out and when we mentioned it, (both that the sauce wasn't delivered and her attitude). He immediately got the sauce and made sure we were fine. This isn't the first time she has been rude. Maybe she shouldn't be working in a service industry. I love their food but in the future if she is my waitress, I will asked for another waitress or ask to be moved to a different section.More

As someone who grew up in Ariz eating traditional Mexican food. This is disgusting. Specifically order the Sopapilla. NOT. It's a fried dough . Puffs up when deep fat fried. What I got was a tortilla covered in cinnamon/sugar. Guess thats finecif you don't know...better. With the real one, you add honey and butter. As for the tacos. Corn tacos were not deep fat fried. I don't know where in Mexico the shells aren't deep fat fried, corn or flour. But it's news to me. Will I be back? No. I prefer Taco BellMore

I went to El Jalisco after work and ordered the #7 off of the lunch menu, I specified the chicken for the burrito. Once I go back to my place, I showered, put on my night clothes, and got ready to eat. I opened my...food and found I got the beef instead of chicken burrito. I do not eat beef due to high blood pressure. I had to get re-dressed and go back to El Jalisco. Once I explained the situation hey were accommodating, offering me a refund. I just asked for the correct order and instead of the refund, I had the margarita with corona and I was told "you can have it on the house." To make a long story short when my correct order was ready, I was charged for the drink. DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTARAUNT!!! THEY ARE PENNY PINCHERS AND LIARS!!!! I will never go back, I will never take family! I pray they go out of business SOON!!! LIARS!!!More

Environment beautiful. Food and service excellent. Surprise how wonderful it is. Don’t let the location in a strip mall keep you away. Road trip from CT to OK. Petra

I had hopes of excellent Mexican food after reading the reviews on TripAdvisor. I was disappointed. My meal was relatively tasteless. Not bad, but not good. Service was OK. Will not return.

If you love Mexican food, you will adore El Jalisco. The prices are so affordable, the service is quick/accurate, the food is amazing and the sweet tea is delicious. Their "sister" restaurant is Rey Azteca and is just as good, we simply prefer the authentic...ambiance of Mexico at El Jalisco.More

Good eats at El Jalisco. We enjoyed a lunch at El Jalisco in Johnstown Pa. The restaurant decor was reminiscent of cantinas in Southern New Mexico or Arizona. Bright colors and festive!. Our waiter was attentive and accurate. I had an interesting dish, an open...faced chili relleno. This was quite a bit different since it was not deep fried and served open faced. When I asked the owner about it she indicated she was trying to make the menu "more healthy" I enjoyed it but not as much as an authentic chili relleno. My wife had a Chimichanga with shredded beef. It has really good taste. The refried beans were authentic and home made. Prices for the lunch combo were very reasonable and the portion size was ample. The over all experience was better than many east coast mexican restaurants. If I go back, I want to try the tacos.More

Walked in it was relatively empty it was early though. I ordered chimi Changas one beef 1 chicken they brought me chips and salsa. The chips were good the salsa was ketchup with cilantro awful. The chimichangas came and I cut into them and I...can taste the steel old grease from the fryer and it was awful period I took 3 bites of the chicken and then I hit a cold spot and I asked for my check and I left. This is an awful place I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy.More

Hi there! If you like Mexican cuisine, this is hands-down the BEST place in the area! The atmosphere is awesome, the food is extremely reasonable, the service is great, the meal turn-around time is quick, the place is clean, and the food is DELICIOUS. If...you are an iced tea fan, their tea is amazing. The menu is extensive and they have a large vegetarian selection. This location is near Walmart, which is a convenient spot. Their original, sister-location, Rey Azteca, is just as good and is in a convenient location on Scalp Avenue. If you haven't gone to one of these restaurants, you are truly missing out!More
