I am a resident of South Wales, I use the M4 regularly, and I have personally experienced how the 50mph speed limit on our M4 motorway is causing unnecessary delays and hindering economic growth. This speed restriction is not only costly but also detrimental to our local economy. It results in significant traffic congestion, discouraging businesses and investors from coming to Wales.

The national speed limit has been proven effective in other parts of the country. In fact, according to a report by RAC Foundation (2017), there was no significant increase in accidents or fatalities when motorway speed limits were raised from 50mph to 60mph or even 70mph elsewhere.

This unnecessary limitation does not only affect me but also thousands of other commuters who use this route daily. It's time for us to return to using national speed limits on the M4 in Newport, Gwent area.
