Northwestern High School is a great school. The curriculum is great, students are given adequate amounts of work. However, there are some improvement that need to be made. There are constant problems with students partaking in activities such as vaping. There are the occasional weekly fights, and the work ethic is low.
The start of my freshman year at Northwestern was during Covid so there wasn't much of an experience that year. My sophomore year was a little better but we still didn't have things like pep rallies and other fun stuff just kind of went to school every day with nothing to look forward to. Last year, my junior year, it started to be better with school activities and events. We did have a couple of pep rallies and they weren't bad but it wasn't giving a fun environment. I honestly only loved the people in my classes. I made new friends throughout high school and I just think Northwestern was only interesting because of the classes and the people in them. My senior year so far is a lot better referring to school being more interesting with different things to do. For instance, we had this one fun day where we only had two classes and then we had food trucks and different games to play as well as a pep rally after. We did get a new principal this year so maybe that was a big factor of it.
Overall my experience with Northwestern High School is amazing. One of my best moments was coming to lunch everyday during school to receive help from my Geometry teacher with assignments I was struggling with. My geometry teacher was extremely understanding and broke examples down in a way I could understand better. She would show me how to solve one example, and then encourage me to fill out the information I could fill out and help me fill the rest or direct formulas I could use to solve the rest. I haven't had any worst experiences with my school. The administration and teachers work extremely hard to enforce respect, no cellphone policy, tenacity, and maturity.
