The 2024-25 high school football season kicks off in a little over 100 days, and the Texoma football landscape looks quite different at the class 5A level.

Memorial and Legacy high schools will open their doors in the Fall, and with it comes two new football teams competing together in district 2-5A.

Spring ball is allowed by the UIL at class 5A and 6A schools, so the Mavericks and Leopards are getting the opportunity to begin building their programs ahead of the upcoming season.

“It just gives us kind of a taste of where these guys are and where they can play and what we need to focus on going into the summer,” Memorial head coach Marc Bindel said.

“We are trying to figure out who we are and what our identity is going to be,” Legacy head coach Lawrence Johnson said.

Both the Mavericks and the Leopards play their regular season opener on August 30, 2024.
