The Stadium Story began in the mid 1930's when the Buzios Family emigrated from the tropical island of Madeira off the coast of Portugal, to Sao Paulo, Brazil. They started working in the 'feiras' (street markets) where they sold traditional family meals. This is where the public fell in love with their secret recipe and style of food. The family then decided to spread their success and moved to Rio de Janeiro where they opened a small 'tasca' (family restaurant) outside the famous "Maracana" Stadium.

This stadium was opened in 1950 to host the FIFA world cup. When it was opened it had the largest seating capacity in the world of approximately 200 000 spectators. Most of these spectators would purchase their pre-match as well as post-match food at the well-known Estadio (Stadium) 'tasca'.

The Stadium "tasca" concept and recipies was passed down to the early settlers who decided to bring the great Stadium taste to the "sports loving" South Africa. Thus the first store was opened in 1980 in Bloemfontein in walking distance from the Free State Stadium, maintaining the Stadium "tasca" description. We believe that food and fun went together. Hence, today Stadium has become a place for great quality food, excellent value and a proudly South African sports vibe and ambiance. - Quality, Value & Variety!
