The Lodge at Torrey Pines is an award-winning luxury resort set atop the cliffs of Torrey Pines State Beach in La Jolla, California. Awarded the AAA Five Diamond rating for 18 consecutive years, the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence, and Travel + Leisure’s Top 50 Hotels in the United States and Canada, The Lodge provides stunning views of the world-renowned Torrey Pines Golf Course and the Pacific Ocean and endless opportunities for guests to enjoy San Diego’s warm climate – from outdoor dining and relaxing at the spa to hiking, golfing and more. The Lodge is modeled after the famed Gamble and Blacker houses in Pasadena – two of the finest examples of early 1900s Craftsman-style architecture. Its post-and-beam construction features a natural color palette, graceful wing-like rooflines, shingle and sandstone-bluff exteriors, clinker-brick masonry, rich woodwork, and natural stone surfaces. Arrivals are greeted by doormen attired in kilted Scottish dress, while inside are 170 spacious guest rooms and suites designed for supreme comfort. The Lodge’s signature restaurant A.R. Valentien – rated Best Hotel Restaurant in the West by Sunset Magazine in 2015 – is a destination for fresh regional cuisine served in an elegant setting overlooking the Torrey Pines Golf Course. Artisan Table Dinners highlighting farm-to-table fare in a communal setting are offered weekly, while Executive Chef Jackson headlines The Lodge’s annual Celebrate the Craft event, one of Southern California’s premier showcases for regionally grown ingredients and innovative cooking and winemaking. For a more casual vibe, The Grill at The Lodge offers a full menu of favorites whether dining indoors or on the patio, while its bar is an ideal gathering place after a day on the golf course. The Spa at Torrey Pines features signature treatments themed around the beauty and purity of the Pacific coastline. This 9,500 square foot space uses botanical and marine-based extracts from European product lines Phytomer, SkinCeuticals, Farmhouse Fresh and NV Organics to replenish and restore the body and mind. Additional features of The Lodge include a croquet lawn, heated outdoor pool and cabanas, whirlpool, outdoor terrace with chaise lounges, hiking at the adjacent Torrey Pines State Reserve, a fitness center and the Scripps Library, a public space featuring a pool table, board games and more. Adjacent to The Lodge, the Torrey Pines Golf Course is an iconic 36-hole course that hosts the PGA Tour’s annual Farmers Insurance Open. Whether on the North Course or South Course, our guests have the opportunity to play where the pros play with the stunning La Jolla coastline as a backdrop. Nearby attractions include downtown La Jolla and Del Mar, Birch Aquarium at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, the La Jolla Playhouse performing arts center and the Museum of Contemporary Art. During spring and summer, the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club entices visitors with the thrill of live racing, while a popular year-round choice is the Torrey Pines State Reserve, a magnificent 2,000 acres of protected rare Torrey Pine trees featuring pristine beaches and eight miles of trails; The Lodge offers complimentary guided hikes throughout the preserve daily. The Lodge is located just 15 miles north of the San Diego International Airport and downtown San Diego.

Nestled in a prime location, The Lodge at Torrey Pines garners praise for its Craftsman-style charm and festive atmosphere, complemented by thoughtful amenities. The service at the hotel receives accolades for its professionalism and attentiveness. While guests appreciate the elegant and comfortable rooms with stunning views, some mention lighting issues and consider the rates steep, especially when additional charges apply. Nonetheless, the hotel's amenities, including an excellent golf course and dining options, along with its cleanliness, are consistently highlighted as noteworthy, adding to the overall value of the stay.

Celebrated my husbands retirement and New Years Eve at this beautiful venue. From the moment we dropped that car at the valet until we checked out, the service we received was second to none. The accommodations were stunning with a huge courtyard facing the greens allowing our little Frenchie (very pet friendly!) some space to lounge in the sun! The grounds are well kept and the architecture of the lodge is breathtaking. No details were spared with this venue. Our suite was filled with luxury soaps and lotions and topped off with champagne, fresh fruits and a special card recognizing my husbands retirement! Our dining experience at dinner and breakfast was delicious showcasing the Chefs talents with perfectly paired wine choices. Overall, one of the best experiences and cannot wait to go back!

Our stay was very relaxing. We felt safe with the Covid situation. Everyone wore masks and rooms were sanitized and sealed and had sanitize/mask kits in the room for us. The resort overlooks two beautiful golf courses and the Pacific Ocean surrounded by pine trees. The grounds are well maintained, pool area is comfortable and they offer nice lounge chairs and private cabanas.
They have yard games and walking pathways through their nature walk. Electric bikes are on property to enjoy.
Two restaurants with out door dining. The Grill is open all day, make reservations even for breakfast. With Covid only out door dining is available. The fine dining room is overlooking the pool area.
If you are a golfer this is the place to be. Check out their huge golf shop! We did not golf but enjoyed a very relaxing vacation lounging by the pool. There is full service at the pool to enjoy food and beverages.
The property is so close to the beaches. We went to LaJolla Shores which Lisa Marie the concierge recommended. She was very helpful on suggesting where to park, how to get there and what to see and do in the area. If you like to go Kayaking at the beach she can make reservations for you.
This is a family resort as I saw several families with small children. It is also a good place for a girls or guys getaway.
Since this resort is so centrally located you can also go shopping and enjoy the restaurants in DelMar/Solana Beach area.
It was a lovely place for us to enjoy an anniversary stay.

The staff is friendly, attentive, and helpful. You can see that they love their job and many of the staff have been working there for years, so they have lots of tips for you to make your stay even more enjoyable.

The rooms are large and most have beautiful and spacious balconies. The carpet is plush with thick carpet pads so you can feel the cushion when walking in your bare feet. It is a wonderful 5 star resort with a world class golf course and stunning views of the Pacific Ocean. Our room had a gas fireplace which made it so cozy in the evening after cocktails on the balcony. The Lodge follows all of the CDC COVID guidelines and we felt perfectly safe the entire time.

Both restaurants, The Grill and A.R. Valentien, feature farm to table cuisine. Our pre-cocktail appetizers, dinner and breakfast were all fresh and delicious.

It was so nice to be in elegant surroundings and nature with a relaxed feel; it is not stuffy or uncomfortable. We will stay here any chance we get.

It’s a lovely property and we’d like to try this again someday, but hope we can be more informed to better select the time for our stay and also a little better service because we never once received turndown service although it was requested at checkin...

We had a lovely time here at first, however, it would have been nice to receive a notice when booking that there would be a concert completely ruining our experience the second half of our 2 night stay. It started when the sun went down Saturday evening and we had flood lights shining bright as a football field in our eyes both on the patio and inside the palisade room we expected to be peaceful and quiet being on a golf course along the pacific coast. They were able to turn the lights off at 10pm after we made the front desk aware multiple times this was extremely disruptive and we were thankful for this because the relaxation we were looking for was quickly turning into a nightmare.

The next morning they started major construction of a concert and stage which could be heard both inside and outside of the room in the location we used to have access for resort amenities, lounge chairs etc. all on the grass where we had enjoyed laying and bringing the dogs down the day prior was now unusable and disruptive even inside our room. The noise sounded like a major construction zone and at this point we contact the front desk to request bell services and left because the stay was no longer enjoyable. The manager did provide compensation by refunding parking and resort fees and apologized but it has still left this experience as our impression rather than the peace and tranquility we anticipated... Not to mention the nightly rate we paid for this experience....

One suggestion regarding the jacuzzi would be to monitor this rather than the entry because we finally made it in one time because of capacity limits we complied with and were quickly met by very young children and toddlers jumping in and splashing around exceeding the 3 person cap.

We were looking for a luxury hotel stay to celebrate Thanksgiving and a birthday and unfortunately The Lodge at Torrey Pines was far from it. We’ve stayed at comparable hotels around the world: Montage, Four Seasons, Pelican Hill, Ritz Carlton, boutique hotels, etc., and The Lodge simply doesn’t compare. Everything about the room was disappointing. Materials are on par with any common hotel chain (e.g., Marriott, Hilton, etc.). The condition of the room was poor and not updated - the faucet handle fell off and we had to screw it back in, the toilet paper roll fell apart and we could not reassemble it, the light fixtures and furniture showed clear signs of extensive wear. Speaking of the toilet paper, even the toilet paper was the quality of something you’d find in an airport or public restroom. The service, while pleasant, wasn’t anywhere near what we’ve experienced at other luxury hotels. While it’s not that important to us, we did find it odd that they weren’t offering valet service (citing COVID) even though restaurants and other hotels in the area were still offering it. We saw this as more an indication of the resort’s commitment and interest in investing in the experience. We dined at the Grill several times as our options were limited over the Thanksgiving holiday, but the quality of food was poor. We looked for every opportunity to eat off-property. The biggest disappointment was the price we paid for our stay. We would have done better at another resort for 1/3 the price. Hate to leave this type of review, but we wished we had seen something like this when we booked our stay.

Beautiful hotel amazing grounds. You will be greeted right at the front entry with the Valet service and bell hops there to help you out. The insides of the hotels are amazing with old world lodge charm and art everywhere. Rooms are very nicely put together and beds are super comfortable. The balcony was nice to relax on and have a nice view of their gardens.

The hotel is right next to Torrey Pines state park with miles of hiking trails. The Valet has maps ready for you and they even have a water and trail mix station where you can put together your own trail mix for the hike. Nice to see a hotel go the extra mile for their customers. .

The only negative I could find was that the service at both the pool and the grill was on the slow side considering that they were not busy at all almost to the point of being ignored. Even if you can’t afford the hotel it is well worth stopping by to just check it out.

We stayed at The Lodge because we wanted to be able to walk to the golf course and have a very nice room overlooking it. We got rained out one day, but just being there made it worth it. We shipped our clubs there via ShipSticks and that worked out perfectly. The Golf Services department had our clubs and had them sent up to our room for unpacking (hard travel cases). When we were ready to leave, they helped us pack up the clubs and prepare them for ShipSticks to pick them up. It went perfectly and the staff went out of their way to be sure we were taken care of. We dined at The Grill for lunch and the food was excellent. The main restaurant has a great breakfast, but be ready to drop some serious coin - I do have to say it was worth it.

We had the most magnificent stay at the Lodge at Torrey Pines this weekend. We were first served by the most gracious Mara Kent at the front desk who went out of her way to make sure we got exactly what we needed for my family. Mara was so patient, kind and professional as our request for our rooms was not the easiest but she went above and beyond to make it work for us to ensure we had a great stay. We also have make a special mention to Fidel Vasquez who also went above and beyond and out of his way to ensure we got the rooms we wanted. Thanks to these two wonderful incredible people, that our stay was absolutely fantastic!

We had a lovely stay but after checking out we realized we had left a blazer & tie hanging in our room. We called to ask for housekeeping to check for it and never even got a call back from anyone, let alone confirmation that you found anything. I guess housekeeping means they keep what they find... disappointing at a resort of this caliber.

As well, our room (341) has the least desirable balcony in the courtyard - no privacy from the open hallway where guests and housekeeping continually walk, and a partial view blocked by a stucco wall, roofing and exit sign.

From the gorgeous views, amenities, food and location, this resort is one of the very best I've ever stayed at! Amazing spa, delicious food, of course the views are spectacular being on the Torrey Pines famous golf course. I found the staff to be the most cheerful, helpful, and kind, even in covid-times where everywhere is short staffed. My room was cleaned twice a day and was spotless, and I was left with spa-like lotions, bath salts, Fiji water and other items that just made it feel very special. Overall, beyond impressed!

The Lodge pays tribute to the California craftsman movement and is modeled after Greene and Greene’s famed Gamble and Blacker houses in Pasadena, California, two of the finest examples of early 1900s Craftsman-style architecture.

I like to walk and walked around the property however there wasn't anything near by however the lodge has complimentary coffee in the morning in the room behind front desk. There also are free goodies as you exit the main building by valet pick up, mostly for those who need to leave and don't have time for breakfast
