Wonder doesn't shy away from its bestselling source material's sentiment, but this well-acted and overall winsome drama earns its tugs at the heartstrings.

Udita Jhunjhunwala Livemint Wonder is a sentimental family film. While it's not devoid of clichés, these are offset by solid performances and a winsome, uplifting story told with tenderness. Aug 13, 2019 Full Review Ariel Henley The Atlantic Wonder is a well-crafted, well-intentioned movie. But it also downplays some important economic, emotional, medical, and psychological realities...it missed a chance to better represent the experiences of children who are already so widely misunderstood. Dec 22, 2017 Full Review Liz Moody Empire Magazine It sometimes over-plays its hand but, anchored by a terrific Jacob Tremblay, Wonder is a warm persuasive argument for tolerance. Rated: 3/5 Dec 3, 2017 Full Review Don Shanahan Every Movie Has a Lesson Between that life lesson of choosing kindness and many invaluable others, the film's buoyant messages are the moving jolt of empathy this generation needs. Rated: 5/5 Jun 26, 2022 Full Review Joe Lipsett Hazel & Katniss & Harry & Starr Podcast While the film's success has shone an important light on disability, the casting controversies, inability to let Auggie be a real person and inspiration porn messaging verge on insufferable. Wonder desperately wants you to cry. I did not. Rated: 2/5 Jun 3, 2022 Full Review Matt Brunson Film Frenzy For a picture that begs to be drowned in sentimental syrup, Wonder feels emotionally honest rather than willfully manipulative. Kaue S Filme incrível!, filme sentimental que nos emociona com o elenco realista e incrível. O legal é ver os garotos tendo sua vida contada também. Filme 10/10 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/28/24 Full Review Kal S The film is at its best when, to quote Auggie’s sister Via, it’s not all about Auggie. ‘Not everything in the world is about you’ she said, and it’s true. While The film obviously centres around Auggie (a boy born with a facial deformity), it explores themes we can all relate to in a world where the line between rejection and acceptance can seem very fragile indeed. We see this in the experience of other characters too, some of whom share the story from their point of view. It's a well crafted and absorbing film—until the final half hour that is, which almost felt like it was produced by an entirely different set of people. Flawed characters all do 180 degree turns just in time for the film’s cheesy curtain call, which stops just short of declaring that ‘they all lived happily ever after’. (7/9/2019) Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/23/24 Full Review Teddy B Well-intended and genuinely heart-wrenching at times, but, just like its novel counterpart, it splits its attention down so many avenues that it seems to lose its focus and overall purpose. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/13/24 Full Review Victor hugo F sensacional e fantástico espetacular espetacular espetacular Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/02/24 Full Review Mellissa R Amo dms, porém o livro é melhor Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/27/24 Full Review Jeff M This was not only one of the most unexpectedly wonderful surprises of the decade but possibly throughout my whole move-going life. Expectations were extremely low - I wasn't familiar with the book, but everything seemed to indicate this would be a mawkish, overly sentimental Lifetime-worthy snoozefest. Much to my delight and surprise, this turned out to be a fantastic, heartwarming and truly emotional experience. I'm generally not a crier unless a father and son are playing catch in a field of corn, but I have seen WONDER three times and am a blubbering mess every single time. I love how it takes the time to flesh out so many of the supporting roles, which makes many of the events that happen not only more meaningful but more understandable. This should be required viewing in schools! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/04/24 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
