      Lisa A. H I really appreciate how this series addresses women's challenges with receiving respect in social and work situations. Most importantly it illustrates the paucity of empathy and sympathy given to girls and women who have been molested. Further the series demonstrates how victims are accused of being difficult personalities when they speak up for themselves or complain about mistreatment while the perpetrators are protected. Some of the extreme dumbing down of the police and the ‘psychology' and the leaps of deduction are hard to take - looking into a 10/15 year cold case, Maja found a link to a police report of a vehicle visiting a farm one night and linked it to an abduction a few hours away despite numerous other events and reports and no other link between the two locations. The driving the route with one of the newspaper archivists and having him act as the perpetrator and ‘re-enacting' the abduction is all a bit much to be convincing. If you can live with that is is pretty good. This is one of the rare series that is not only dramatically engaging, but deals with an important social issue - how women are treated by men who are in positions of authority. This is an amazingly good program, strong acting, good scripting and amazing scenery in northern Norway. Put this high on your watch list, it is definitely worth your time! The English enunciation in the first episode would induce haemorrhaging from the ears. It's slower than a turtle on quaaludes and that's why I gave up. Far too many of the Scandi Noir stuff now ( not previously ) are relying, far too heavily, on drone shots of the surrounding countryside. I know where Norway, Denmark, Finland and Sweden are.
