Tomas Alfredsson, director of Let the Right One In and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy made this film in 2004, while the director and the two earlier mentioned films got the international recognition they deserved this film has fallen into the shadows which is very sad because this film is the best film made in Sweden since Ingmar Bergmans Persona. The film stars the famous (in Sweden) Killinggang (a group of comedians who made famous tv-films in the 90s). The most famous one in this group is Robert Gustavsson and he plays multiple parts in this film just as other actors do because this is that kind of film. Even if the creators originally are comedians this film is one of…
A bit like Todd Solondz' Happiness, only more ambitious. Jet black comedy that goes into some very dark places but is still surreally funny.
landins: 5/10
en dålig idé: 2/10
min sista vilja: 6/10
Pappas lilla tjockis: 7/10
Fairly good film, but so merciless in its view of the characters that it gave me anxiety.
(Tv-versionen)
Pappas lilla tjockis - ★★★
Min sista vilja - ★★★★
En dålig idé - ★★★
Landins - ★★★★
Fuck. I will do a proper review soon but here’s a ranking of the 4 stories!
1. Landins (9/10)
2. Pappas lilla tjockis (9/10)
3. Min sista vilja(9/10)
4. En dålig idé (7/10)
65/100
A movie in four parts by a Swedish comedy group, but the comedy here is dark and mostly in the background. Lots to like about it anyhow, funny or not.
"Pappas lilla tjockis" - 68/100
Four characters in repeating sessions, and one leader of this group. Misplaced people in a world that is headed towards nightfall. Gothenburg, for some reason, despite only one of the five talks like they're from there - but I guess it's in line with Swedish film tradition, at least. Favorite performance: Johan Rheborg as Ernst. Favorite scene: The one with Elin and her coworker.
"Min sista vilja" - 75/100
It's always strange nowadays to see Jonas Inde in these things, and hard not be…
I assume its because of the Scandi cultural values and sense of good taste that they have given us so many provocateurs, keen to alight a new Theatre of Cruelty. A comedy troupe depicting paedophilia and disability is enough to raise red flags - luckily some of their assessments land, especially in recognition of a more perverse family unit that embraces mental health struggles and deformities, whilst advocating killing off the predatory. Still, not at all equal stories, and individualised episodes might not have offered such stark contrast in quality.
