What travelers are saying
- Andy cMadrid, Spain23 contributionsThis is one of the must-see attractions in Chongqing, with a special and ancient style architecture, it is very colorful in the evening. Very crowded when we were there, even can not take a taxi when we got out of it, no subway can reach this place, a lot of local snacks you can buy in this ancient street. The best location to have a view of this magnificent building is across from the JIaling River, no need to buy ticket to enter it.Written January 29, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Stephen CSingapore, Singapore1,125 contributionsThis is the heart of Chongqing city. It houses the People's Liberation monument at the center of the pedestrian walking boulevard.
There are plenty of eating and shopping options in the vicinity. It is also the place for people watching.Written June 4, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - OBGTravelerNorth Stonington, CT26 contributionsWe went on a Chinese tourist boat rather than one for non-Chinese. It was fabulous. The boat does NOT have first class. It makes different stops than the boat for non-Chinese Patrons. The views were extraordinary and our experience unparalleled.Written May 10, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - KodoDrummerBuenos Aires, Argentina70,548 contributionsThere is a lot or open space. It could do with more spectacular exhibits. I best liked the exhibits dealing with the Japanese invasion.Written March 21, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - OapsfulMarche-en-Famenne, Belgium58 contributions2 hours away from Chongqing by car, started the trek (11km long) from South Gate and the trek lasted 3-4 hours (knowing that I took the cable car [which isn't a must-do] and also the bus within the Black Mountain Valley).
Entrance was 85 RMB and another 80 for all public transportation within the valley (coach from North Gate to South Gate, cable car, little shuttle bus from the end of the trek back to South Gate, and then coach again from South Gate to North Gate).
Weather was a bit rainy which gave a great atmosphere. The trek isn't difficult at all with a nice path along the way. If you want to be close to nature and enjoy the view and noise of water, that place is a great idea for a day trip away from Chongqing.Written April 4, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. This is the best place to view Chongqing City, you can feel the modernity and fashion of Chongqing when you are standing on it. Nice ! The park itself is a good place to relax, there are some embassy buildings at the entrance of this park, showing the good relationship between China and other countries.
It will take you around 1 hour to visit this park, subway is available to reach this place, only 10 minutes walking after getting out the exit.Written January 29, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. If you are in Chongqing and have some time, you’ll see some animals that you may not see elsewhere.....Great Pandas for sure, red pandas, white tigers, and some particularly energetic monkeys :)Written November 30, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Paul EAdelaide, Australia246 contributionsOur guide took us to the top of the mountain to see the temples and the history was fascinating. Sadly though. you no longer see the face of the Buddha. The trip up is well worth it.Written November 5, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Nicola D23 contributionsIt’s worthwhile going definitely amazing scenery and fresh air make it a good option from a trip from Chongqing, best is to sleep there but it’s also possible to do it as a day trip from Chongqing since there is also a tourist bus from the North Station that takes you there in a little more than two hoursWritten August 12, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - KodoDrummerBuenos Aires, Argentina70,548 contributionsAs a tourist attraction, I rate the Peoples’ Assembly Hall, aka, Great Hall of the People, as “very good,” and for its functional use by locals, my rating would be “excellent.”
Awesome ancient Chinese architecture. Large, beautiful theatre on the inside.Written March 21, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
