Jim Jim William Truskosky

Danville - James "Jim" William Truskosky, 82, of Danville passed away at 10:39 AM on Friday, April 12, 2024 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. He was born October 27, 1941 in Danville to Charles and Alma (Rose) Truskosky. He married Glenda Powell with whom he had four children. Jim and Glenda later divorced but remained good friends until her passing.
He is survived by his children, Teresa (Jeff Goodner) Bruso of Danville, Jamie (Brad) Jolley of Tilton, Jim (Buffy Wike) Truskosky of Monticello, GA, and Sandra (Travis) Lathrop of Covington, IN; nine grandchildren, Tiffany, Tammy, Brandy, Brady, Caitlyn, Brianna, Tytus, Malachi, and Logan; ten great grandchildren, Hayleigh, Makani, Malakai, Kaedyn, Daniel, Aubrey, Aubree, Dakota, Brantley, and Wiley; two great-great grandchildren, Kaysen and Kynleigh; two sisters, Vicky (Neil) Olsen and Chris Truskosky; sister-in-law Sharon Truskosky; many friends, nieces, and nephews that he loved dearly; and his beloved dog, Baby.
In addition to Glenda Powell, he was preceded in death by his parents, brother Charles Truskosky, and his twin brother, John Truskosky.
In his younger years, Jim worked for Jocko's Drive in and Jordan's PX. He then moved on to Teepak where he served in many different capacities and was able to climb the ranks by earning certifications through correspondence courses. In his spare time, Jim loved to play golf and work out. He could also often be found tinkering with a project in his garage. Jim was a people person and could make a friend anywhere he went. He loved his friends, neighbors, co-workers and was known for his amazing sense of humor. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandkids. They were the apples of his eye and the time they had together was precious.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Jim Truskosky will be held at 6 PM on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL 61834. Pastor Greg Taylor will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5-6 PM prior to the service on Thursday, also at Sunset in Danville. Cremation rites will be accorded.

Plant a tree: How does it work

When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.

An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.

After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.

Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.

Tree Planting Timeline

Orders placed in:

Planting will take place in Spring or Summer of the same year.
