- Edited 11 days agoWow, this sounds good. I was lucky to get a mint-like record. I'm very happy with the purchase. I have always loved this album. I was 7 years old when it came out and it was very popular in Norway, think it was on 2nd place in the charts. Just a great rock-pop album.
- I was extremely happy with this issue - and I guess I still am - however, I got my hands on a still sealed UK press (Mercury label) and holy shitballs …. It’s absolutely stunning. More open sounding - slightly brighter top end and nice solid bottom end. The MOV reissue is now redundant

Gorgeous pressing - shiny, glorious, magnificent power pop loveliness. Words words wordsreferencing Unmasked (LP, Album) 6302032
This is the second Colombian pressing of the album. When "Unmasked" was first released in Colombia, Discos Fuentes was the Casablanca Records licensee for this South American country. They released it with the original speech balloons in English and original Casablanca labels. It also had advertising for some previous Kiss releases by Fuentes on the back cover. Not so much later, Fuentes dropped the Casablanca license, which was picked up by Discos Philips. This record company released the album for the second time, with Spanish-translated speech balloons and plain white promo-like "Casablanca - Hecho En Colombia" label. While the Philips version isn't very difficult to find in Latin American eBay-type sites, the first Colombian pressing of Unmasked by Discos Fuentes is a true rarity, even in Colombia.- Great pressing, and that’s what I don’t get. They obviously spent money on this and Creatures of the Night, but not very much on several much bigger album reissues. Using QRP for this, but NOT some of the earlier discs just seems foolish. Dynasty, Destroyer etc are very good discs, but this one eats them alive in good old fashions sound quality.
- Good pressing overall, it still has that thin sound to many of the songs most notable on "Talk To Me" where the guitar is painfully bright. The Paul Stanley songs on the other hand sound very good, with an excellent bass tone coming through on "Is That You" with great instrument separation.
- Probably the lightest sounding album KISS ever made. I owned the original US LP from 1980 and I remember being disappointed on the SOUND ( too light, no punch), and of some of the songs, particularly Gene's and some of Ace's, but especially Side B which is basically the shit the remaining three members of this band had lying around. Pure filler. C grade crap. I still can't get over how songs such as "She's So European" and "You're All That I Want" were even recorded. This is what happens when a band gets too big for its breeches. No one would dare tell them when the material is shit. To this day, while I enjoy Side 1 (not as much as previous albums, but still enjoy it), I have a hard time getting through Side 2. Gene was phoning it in, and when Ace's songwriting outshines Gene's, and some of Paul's you know the band is in trouble. I will say that the CD remaster and the 180 vinyl remaster are superb sounding. At least the corrected the lame, limp sounding mix of the 1980 edition. If you enjoy it as part of history, within the context of the time it was recorded and released, you'll have a good time. If you play it in anger, cursing that they don't sound like another "Love Gun", you won't enjoy this at all. It's all in the past now. The boys are forgiven. And, there are some very nice guitar licks as well as drumming on this album, so... give it a spin today!
