Very well-done tour, starting with a short movie highlighting the renovation of this Frank Lloyd Wright creation. Plan on 1 1/2 hours to view video of restoration by Steelcase which was quite extensive and interesting. Much study and attention to detail was apparent as you viewed the video and toured the home. Restoration was true to history of home, including custom furnishings created from period photographs as well as some original pieces from home. Interesting and very well done.

We have visited a dozen or so FLW sites, and this is at our near the top of the list. Restored to the last nail with precision and care, this FLW masterpiece needs to be a "must do" in Grand Rapids. Be sure to get reservations. The docents know a great deal about FLW and more about this home. A real treat. And its FREE!

Nice little gem of a fun thing to do that is budget friendly and informative.

Love that this home was restored to it's original glory and Steelcase protected this home and spent their own funds to share this fabulous home with the public, as it was run down and dilapidated at the time it was purchased. Very impressive facts as restoration experts brought this beauty back to life and not an easy task.

Cute quaint neighborhood and wonderful tour. Will not disappoint. Around the corner is a Food Market in the Downtown area that has something for everyone.

Even if you are not a FLW lover this home is worth touring as fun for all ages and educational.

Took the public tour which included an introductory video telling about the history of the house. Needed to reserve tour online in advance but the tour is free. The windows in the front room are beautiful and there is a colorful garden behind the house. Highly recommend if you are a fan of Frank Loyd Wright or historic houses.

If you love Frank Lloyd Wright, this is a must see! Steelcase purchased and restored this truly amazing house, a masterpiece of architecture. Budget about 2 hours for the tour. Book in advance. Tours are free.

The tour begins with a video on the restoration. It’s a little slow but provides some good background. Then, the tour of the house begins with the exterior followed by the interior. We had a retired Steelcase exec on our tour who knew far more about the house than did our docent.

Staff: volunteer staff overall nice; some more knowledgeable than others

Cleanliness: Excellent

Public bathrooms: excellent cleanliness

This is a very informative tour of an incredible structure. A must-do if you are in Grand Rapids Michigan. The house is only open three days per week but is well worth a visit. It is amazing that a comprehensive tour of 90 mimutes is totally free!

I try to visit any FLW houses when I travel and this has been my favorite thus far.
It’s one of his earlier projects and stands out amongst the other houses in the area. Lots of windows, an interesting dinner table with attached lighting and an amazing front room with library and fireplace. Truly a work of art. The streets nearby are even made of brick.

This is a beautifully restored FLW house. The film before the tour was excellent. It provided a lot of information on the restoration and history of the house. The house is in perfect condition. You can see how it looked when the May family lived there.

The visitor center is the not FLW house on the side. The sign is on driveway to the Meyer May House so it is not clear from the street or Google Earth Maps. The experience begins with a 30+ minute video on the restoration and then the 8 in the group were split into two 4 person groups. This makes it a very personal tour compared to other FLW house experiences. Our guide was Bill and he was excellent and engaging.
