Using this Movie Poster Template for Students in class

Our delightful Movie Poster Template for Students is a wonderful resource designed by teachers to save you time. Available in different formats, including an eco-friendly option, all you need to do is decide what one you want, download and print, and it's ready for use in your lesson!

This Movie Poster Template for Students consists of two sheets of paper. The first one sets the scene, telling your class the purpose of the poster. It then has prompts that encourage your student to plan their poster. This includes the movie title, characters and the all important quote, which has to feature on the poster too.

The second page of our Movie Poster Template for Students has a border around the page for students to design their poster in.

You can begin your lesson asking students what films they've seen, what they liked and disliked about them and which characters stood out, as part of a class discussion. Then, you could show some movie trailers, which may inspire your class when it comes to designing their poster.

The brilliance of our Movie Poster Template for Students is that your class have to think and plan their poster, rather than spontaneously designing and then explaining it. The first page is a great way for your students to organise their thoughts as they start this independent activity.

Each poster will be uniquely designed and will look great in a class display. This activity is also ideal for children to use at home too.

What are movie posters?

Movie theatres and billboards frequently advertise movies with movie posters. They're main purpose is to get people interested in seeing the movie they're advertising. They'll often include:

  • the movie's title
  • rating
  • illustrations or photos of the main characters and the setting
  • a significant quote from the movie and
  • possibly the release date
Posters are just one way to gain interest in a movie, with trailers being another technique too.
