Camille Pissarro

Camille Pissarro was a renowned French Impressionist painter and one of the founders of the movement. Born in St. Thomas in the Danish West Indies in 1830, Pissarro moved to Paris as a young man to pursue a career in art. He was heavily influenced by the works of the Impressionist painters, such as Monet and Renoir, and became known for his vibrant landscapes and scenes of everyday life. Pissarro was a mentor to many younger artists, including Paul Cézanne and Paul Gauguin, and played a key role in shaping the Impressionist movement. He continued to paint and exhibit his work throughout his life, despite facing financial difficulties and health problems. Pissarro's works are now considered some of the most important in the Impressionist genre, and he is hailed as one of the great masters of 19th-century art.
