    National monuments of Singapore: Former Thong Chai Medical Institution

    1891-1892: Thong Chai Medical Institution was built at 3 Wayang Street (now 50 Eu Tong Sen Street).

    In 1867, a group of Chinese merchants established Thong Chai Medical Institution in a shophouse on Upper Pickering Street, originally named Thong Chai Yee Say (同济医社, "Thong Chai Medical Society").

    The Former Thong Chai Medical Institution also served as a hub for guild meetings and political activities.

    They trained at Lian Shan Shuang Lin Monastery and initially stayed at Thong Chai Medical Institution, which also served as their administrative centre.

    Today we're exploring another landed estate in Bukit Timah, which consists of several Avenues all named after trees: Redwood, Elm, Oak, Fir, and Cypress.

    One thing to note, however, is that the previous eateries shown are right smack in the landed estate.

    They're situated at the end of the residential streets (where Cherry Avenue and Elm Avenue meet), which can result in parking/driving-through issues.

    Unfortunately, during school drop-off and school pick-up hours, Bukit Timah Road can be a bit of a nightmare.

    He couldn't bear to see his son unable to move around like other children, so he made him a wheelchair.

    Malaysian mechanical engineer Mohd Noor Syazwan Ab Patar, 36, found the idea to create a special wheelchair for his 19-month-old son Muhammad Qhalish Mohd Noor Syazwan after searching the internet for children with the same condition.

    After uploading videos of Qhalish using the wheelchair, Faradila said that several people were interested in ordering the device from them.

    This also gave inspiration to other parents who have special children," she said.
