After being blown away by a team of FBI agents, Jason Voorhees (Kane Hodder) needs to find a way to overcome certain death. When his bloodied remains are sent to the morgue, his heart, still intact, is able to hypnotize a coroner and take over his body. After brutally dispatching a couple of FBI agents, he heads back to his favorite stomping grounds: Crystal Lake. In what has become an all-too-familiar outcome, I find myself assigning yet another less-than-stellar rating to the latest installment of the "Friday the 13th" franchise. This edition, which ambitiously aims to delve into the enigmatic backstory of Jason, ultimately falls short of delivering on its promise. The special effects come across as glaringly outdated and border on the grotesque to the contemporary viewer. Although the narrative fails to meet expectations, it's worth noting that in my opinion, the acting performances in this particular chapter do stand out over the series' previous entries.

If you put yourself in the perspective of someone who watched the movie 31 year ago, it's really great, and I love it. There are some ideas which basically shaped the horror movie industry and are really cool to see in their early phases. However if you want something that will scare and intrigue you with a different/new approach to this genre, don't waste your time on this movie, or the whole franchise.
