We will be in Cairns in early June and want to visit Port Douglas Wildlife habitat. We do not drive. What are the transportation options a available from Cairns city to the wildlife habitat and back? Besides the wildlife habitat, are there other places in port Douglas recommend visiting?

30 helpful votes There is no general public transport. You will need to arrange a tour or private transport or a shuttle bus. There are many options.

You may be better off going on a tour to PD for the day that includes the habitat. Going to PD for the day is not always easy as in shuttle buses from Cairns often go via the airport and you can be stuck there waiting for passengers. The habitat is a little way out of town ,there are local buses that would take you in to the central part of town. Once you factor in all the bus tickets a day tour may be not that much more per person. Must admit not sure if there is one that includes it but if there is I'd try looking it up
