Although apprehensive at first, I quickly learned attending Rutgers University–New Brunswick for my undergraduate degree was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Rutgers has robust academic programming that rivals that of the Ivy League, yet all the benefits of a large, state university; you have the best of both worlds.
Everything you may have heard about the classes being too big, the busses being chronically late, and administration being unhelpful are all true. A student who doesn't take initiative to ask a professor for extra help might find the large class sizes difficult to deal with. One that can't learn to properly manage their time and take rush hour traffic into account might find the busses to be a nightmare. And one that can't advocate for themselves will certainly have trouble dealing with any bureaucratic issues they might come across at Rutgers. However, everything you've heard about the diverse student body, the amazing professors, and the high quality eduction are also true. A student might feel their Rutgers experience is better represented by the negatives, but only if they are not able to take initiative, manage their time, and advocate for what they need. While most students succeed at Rutgers, only those who are able to adapt Rutgers' demanding environment will truly thrive.
Very good from what I've seen so far. I will be entering as a freshman fall 2024. Definitely excited to be on campus.
Best known for its academics, Rutgers NB is rewarding for scholars, but offers little in the way of affordable meals, housing, or nightlife.
Wished parking was less expensive -$200 for a parking deck and I am a commuter. Although I had a parking pass, I still recieved a ticket.
Good science and engineering program and classes. Class registration seems quite competitive. I missed one registration that is required for my major.

Horrible School. Staff are rude in general. High tuition for a very poor education. It is all about an image.
My classes have been interesting and all of my professors have been chill and easy to talk to. I am in Mason Gross school of the arts and I wish there were more classes that dealt with technical aspects such as anatomy rather than only conceptual classes. That should be an option for those who want or need to learn more technical skills. However, I enjoy the freedom that I have had in my art classes overall.

Many have also complained about student housing, the bus system, and the food. Many food places close quite early, even more so on Fridays and weekends. Many of us solely rely on these places for food so it can be stressful to make sure I have enough before everything closes. There could also be more buses, especially during the weekends because it frequently makes people late to class. The electric scooters provided are a good alternative but cost money.

I love the mental health resources for students. Fitness amenities, especially pool on Douglass Campus are well kept.
I think it’s a great school. It is so large and beautiful. But getting help can be kind of hard. I understand the staff that helps students probably have many students to get to but everyone needs help.
As a first-gen West Indian woman, I found myself immersed in a community that celebrated diversity in every sense of the word. Rutgers provided a platform where my voice felt valued and heard, from celebrating Caribbean Heritage Month to engaging in thought-provoking discussions. Academically, Rutgers exceeded my expectations with top-notch faculty and research facilities. As a graduate student, I delved into research that broadened my horizons and fueled my passion for learning. The mentorship I received shaped my academic journey and instilled in me a lifelong commitment to education. Rutgers stands out for its unwavering support for students from diverse backgrounds. As a first-generation college student, navigating higher education can be daunting, but Rutgers offers resources like the Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) program and workshops at the Paul Robeson Cultural Center. These resources empowered me to achieve my goals and ensured my success.
Rutgers NB provides you with so many opportunities and connections. If you're looking to get involved in internships, clubs, research positions, and jobs, you'll be able to find so many opportunities and connections at Rutgers. There are also so many different kinds of majors and programs to choose from and so many interesting classes in and outside of your field. The campus is really vibrant and there's always something to do. While I was intimidated by a big university at first, I am really thankful for my experience looking back.
I truly love Rutgers! I live on College Ave which can be a bit unsafe, and my safety is of concern here as I have chosen to live off campus as they have more security. The campus life is vibrant and there is always something to do, someone to talk to, or an organization to join.
I enjoy my time here at Rutgers University, it has brought me many life lessons to learn from, and many connections I wouldn't trade the world for.
Definitely could be safer, New Brunswick is a dangerous place already. There are a lot of cops on campus. I definitely love the students at Rutgers and the groupmes are very helpful. The Atrium gave me food poisoning which is a common joke. I love how there are so many places to study at late hours. As a commuter, I enjoy the student centers. With parking, they do ticket a lot. The meters especially is not Rutgers they are afflicted with New Brunswick Municipal so you will get an official ticket. The writing professors seem to really care about their students. Student life is very active and there are many groups that you can join. There’s always something going on in College Ave with some possible freebies. Also on a nice sunny day you’ll find students having a picnic. The greek life sucks. Don’t go to frats, they are suspicious and really lame. Definitely other colleges have a better party scene or I'm just not a frat type of person. The food is okay. The busses are not as bad.
As a Sophmore, I enjoy my time at Rutgers, mostly because of the Fraternity I joined, I haven't had problems here yet just because of my friends and the academic tools my Fraternity provides its members with. The main aspect about Rutgers I would fix is the food system, it doesn't give you enough energy and nutrients to be healthy and go on with your day.
