The Inn at Sonoma was great! The Inn is very nice, cute, comfortable and the staff were nice, knowledgeable and helpful. It is also a perfect location to be able to walk around town and come and go -- really lovely Inn.

And the good points are excellent indeed... Perfectly accessible location to Sonoma’s main plaza. Easy parking and in and out access. Charming lobby and room decor, striking just the right note between historic inn rustic and comfortable contemporary... ...Some exemplary staff members, especially Assistant Manager Kristi who rode herd on the breathtakingly rude and dismissive behavior on the part of Platypus Wine Tours whose tour guide bungled my pricey wine purchase and gave me a less expensive bottle instead. Kristi is a star and stand-up broad, period. The breakfast is ample, if not memorable and is well prepared and presented. Evening wine is unremarkable and apps are minimal. Still, they make the effort and do pretty darn well for a 3-star hotel. Housekeeping is a solid B+ (toilet paper seems to be at a premium) and my room was clean, if lacking in any meaningful amenities. Window drapes were in sad, droopy shape and let light in. Bed was extremely comfortable. Pillows are foamy average, but at least not cottage cheese lumpy. Balcony was well-kept though the view wasn’t much. Shower pressure and hot water were both excellent. Room temperature was easy to control and I felt very comfortable (i.e. cool because I run hot). So, yes, it’s a mixed bag, but the good is so good (you hear that Kristi) that 5 stars are warranted. I definitely recommend the Inn at Sonoma.

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights during labor day weekend and really enjoyed our time in Sonoma. We loved the location of the Inn as it was walking distance (2 blocks) to the main square. covid related changes: we received link to do online check-in 2 days prior to our arrival. Once we arrived we were given an envelope with our keys and welcome letter. There is both street level and under ground parking (which we chose due to the heat). We parked and did not use our car all weekend. We were given a wine/cheese box for "cocktail hour" which we enjoyed in the room. We chose to have breakfast delivered to us and enjoyed it on the balcony in our room. We chose the delivery time and they were punctual both mornings. They have bikes you can borrow which my husband took advantage of. He said the bike trail was nice. No helmets though so you can bring your own but not required. Room: we stayed in a deluxe king room which had a balcony. The bed was comfortable. There is no mini fridge but we took a small cooler with us put ice on a ziploc bag to keep our drinks cold. The bed was comfortable. We did not hear much noise other than in the morning when breakfast was being delivered or rooms being cleaned but not bad compared to other hotels I've stayed at.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Inn at Sonoma, and there was so much to like. The rooms looked like new and were nicely decorated with comfy beds, and we had a fireplace in the room (which might have been nice in the winter) and a table and chairs out on a small balcony. The room itself on the second floor was quiet and the A/C was unobtrusive. Breakfast each morning was small but high quality, with some outdoor tables available off the lobby, and we enjoyed the wine and cheese snack each day. The location of the hotel was perfect – just a little over a block away from the central square (Sonoma Plaza). The front desk staff and manager were helpful, and only thing we missed was that the rooms didn’t have a small mini-fridge. We had a great visit to Sonoma, loved the location and comfort the Inn provided, and would certainly consider staying there again during a future visit.

Great location next to the Sonoma town plaza. Tons of wineries and good hiking trails nearby along with the shopping and dining around the plaza. The Inn itself worked perfectly for our stay. It's a pretty classic bed and breakfast. The rooms are slightly on the smaller side but they're comfortable and there's plenty of room for a short stay (we stayed 5 nights). The small porch and fireplace in our room were great for the spring weather (temps ranged from 40 to 70 degrees over the course of the day). The breakfast was super convenient and the food was good (one hot option which consisted of a quiche, potatoes, and a type of breakfast bread; also yogurt, fruit, granola, OJ, coffee, tea). The afternoon wine, cheese, and cookies was a really nice touch as well. There's also a small hot tub on the 2nd floor that we took advantage of. In terms of Covid, our room and common areas were clean and everyone wore masks. All of the staff we interacted with were friendly and happy to help (requests for extra towels and other items were answered quickly). No complaints. Hope to visit again sometime soon.

My friend and I were getting together to celebrate our 40th birthdays together. I live here and wasn’t sure which hotel to choose. We decided on Inn at Sonoma because of proximity to plaza, the complimentary breakfast and the bicycles that you can borrow. Being August 2020, we also wanted to stay somewhere that was taking extra measures to keep everyone safe and keep things sanitary. In talking with the staff, we felt comfortable they were taking things seriously. The staff was wonderful, the breakfasts were great, the complimentary wine and cheese every afternoon was a fun addition and we used the bicycles to ride up to the Friday morning farmers market off the plaza. It was a perfect getaway and now I want to come back! (And I live here!)

Cozy Inn with great hospitality like wine tasting, cheese, and cookies in the afternoon; and they serve breakfast daily. The room was very comfortable, there was a gas fireplace (the cozy factor), TV, and coffee service. Front Desk was always cheery and helpful. Also, the location of this place is in walking distance to the town square where you can find restaurants, bars, wine tasting, art galleries, and many boutiques. We highly recommend the Inn at Sonoma - A Four Sisters Inn; we would definitely stay here again.

Below is my original post. I was contacted by Hannah from Four Sisters Inns and am confident that she is taking steps to remediate these issues. Due to her diligence I would try another Four Sisters Inn in the future. I appreciate her attention to customer service and professionalism. I believe that her staff will take the review and work to make the experience better for future guests. I do not consider myself to be a negative person, so I will start with the positives. This is a great location and we had nice cool air in our room. That is about the extent of it. When we first arrived, Daniela was behind the desk and did not even bother to acknowledge our presence. She sat and continued looking at her computer without looking up. When Kristi came out to greet us, she was neither welcoming nor helpful - although she at least acknowledged our presence. Kristi assured us that we would receive a text when our room was ready, but that never happened. When we were finally able to check in, we were offered the “picnic” that had been advertised. It was a few pieces of substandard cheese and cracker along with two plastic covered cups of cheap wine. All of this was in a bag that had probably been sitting around for a while. Also, the breakfast options provided were not tempting, so we chose to eat out instead. The room looked nothing like the pictures. We were in the annex building where The furnishings were old, the room was crowded with useless and mismatched pieces and storage was limited. We were told that we would not be able to have maid service “due to Covid restrictions”. The sink leaked constantly leaving the countertop soaked. The bathtub was a hazard due to the height of the tub and the space surrounding it. Also, the bed had a metal headboard that clanged like a gong each time one of us moved. There is absolutely no sound insulation in the building. The tv offered no premium channels. This was honestly one of the most disappointing hotel stays I have ever experienced.

I love this place because it's just a couple blocks from the square in Sonoma. It's set back from the main road (Broadway) leading into town, so it's quiet. We've stayed here before, and have enjoyed our visits. Lots to do in Sonoma and surroundings: hiking, good restaurants, wineries, etc. Generous happy hour and breakfasts. In the winter, they have good specials such as second night free or second nigh at 50%.

We planned our recent quick overnight stay at the Inn given our previous great experiences. We needed a place to relax, unwind and get a good night's sleep in between two long days of driving on our way home. The Inn at Sonoma proved to be just what we needed. Everything was sparkling clean, safe, social distanced and very comfortable and cozy all at the same time. We missed the mini picnic given we got in late but breakfast was nourishing and the coffee delicious. We walked into town which is literally around the corner to pick up our dinner and had a nice meal with the fireplace going in our room. One last important note is that I appreciate the refillable Bee Kind soap, lotion, shampoo and conditioner so we didn't add to the wasteful throwing away of single use plastic containers by the millions. Same with the flatware/dishes for breakfast including the cloth napkins. I wish all hotels did this!! We'll look forward to our next visit.

Carl H asked a question May 2021
How early can you have breakfast?
Answer from M P
Jun 2021 |
We we were there they were serving breakfast on a tray outside your room. With the COVID restrictions lifted you should contact the inn and ask what time breakfast is served. I would think 7:30 or so for those checking out early.

How big is the bathroom and are the walls very thin ?
Answer from Manager
Jan 2017 |
Hi, Thank you for your inquiry. Please know that the inn is newer construction, and the walls are purpose-built to accommodate multiple guestrooms and guests. The bathrooms in the main building are small standard, typical of hotel accommodations while our Vintner building bathrooms are a little larger. Any one of the front desk team would happily recommend a guestroom based on your needs should you wish to contact us directly at the inn. We hope to welcome you soon.
