Where do I find this?
If you do not have a current registration card, please call us at 800-252-8980 (toll-free in Illinois) or 217-785-3000 (outside Illinois) to obtain your Registration ID and PIN.
If your car has passed an emission test. (Only applicable for vehicles in the Chicago and Metro-East St. Louis areas)
You
can’t renew your registration online if:
- The vehicle information is not correct or current.
- The renewal sticker needs to be mailed to an out-of-state address.
What You Need

A valid credit/debit card (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, or American Express) or electronic check
- A payment processor fee will be assessed for all credit card transactions.
- The processor payment fee for e-checks is being waived.
After Renewal
- You can expect to receive your renewal sticker in 5 to 10 business days.
- Pursuant to 625 ILCS 5/3-701, if you purchased your renewed registration sticker prior to the expiration of the current registration sticker date, this printed proof of registration is valid for 30 days from the expiration of the previous registration sticker's date. Please keep this receipt in your vehicle until the renewal sticker is affixed to the vehicle.
- Why did I receive a sticker with a 'T'? Your vehicle is currently in the replating cycle. You will receive a new set of plates with your renewal sticker.
